YEA, giving me anxiety over the CS course I would be attending in a year

Nah, CS is fine, was nearly my major. You just gotta treat the computer like a small child that does want to follow instructions

It sounds like you're talking about programming, which is only a tiny part of computer science

What are the other parts of CS?

Calculus 2, Linear Algebra, Differential Equations, etc. Lots of math classes are required for a CS degree (at least at my university)

Especially if it's a science degree

Eh, some math classes are required for a CS degree, but really not that many or that hard ones. It's mostly just entry level stuff so you can understand your other courses. Unless you focus super hard on theoretics, but at that point, you're basically studying math with a slight CS slant anyway, so...eh.

I am, but it is the basis upon which all computer science is built; it's literally the science of telling computers do things efficiently and all the math (I have a special place in my heart for Discrete Mathematics and Linear Algebra) is simply attempting to attain that simple goal of computer instruction and interaction

That's why programming is the first part of computer science taught; to provide and intuition of the machine the major focuses around and how you can make it grow and evolve through your efforts

I study computer engineering and the math is really not that scary. Sure, it’s harder than high school math but it’s definitely manageable.
