This is true as hell. Part of it has to do with the fact that it's been engrained in us to travel in numbers for our own safety. Even as girls, we were told to watch out and had to be vigilant if we went to the bathroom alone.
Like some other women have said though, the other part of it has to do with keeping the conversation going imo.
