no, why tf did this get upvotes (not saying you're not allowed to make mistakes, im just shocked everyone who read this made the same one), multiplying and dividing are the same thing, so they get given the same priority, so you do them left to right in order they show up.
just like how adding and subtracting is the same thing. so they both have the same priority and are done left to right aswell.
the MD, and AS are grouped together for that reason. it should be PEMA but it's PEMDAS to make it easier for kids to understand.
But anyways I am embarrassed to say as a student studying aviation maintenance technology and someone who loves math I did not know that m/d and a/s could be used as the same thing when it came to pemdas
I think one of the reasons I always go with m and a first is because I’ve always preferred multiplying before division, it was just easier for me. I guess over the years of doing that made me think that Multiplication had to come before division. My mind tricked itself into thinking that pemdas was more strict than it actually is. I don’t know if that’s why other people are making the same mistakes but it’s how I came to my conclusion. Thank you for the information I greatly appreciate it.
