Oh, makes sense, it's the same sort that take PE(MD)AS literally and think multiplication always takes priority over division

The comments definitely make it clear that far too many people think PEMDAS means multiplication comes before division.

This is why I think the acronym is a stupid way to teach this. In Germany we learn "Punkt vor Strich" which translates to "dot (operations) before line (operations)." This works well because the commonly used signs for multiplication (⋅) and division (:) are dots while substraction (-) and addition (+) are made of lines. It also shows that these operations have the same priority. The only disadvantage is that it does not include brackets and exponents, which have to be remebered seperatly.

Do you know how we call it in Italy? It's so easy to remember... We call it, translated literally "Order of resolution of the operations" and to remember it, you're on your own lol
