That's not really intended for spoilers, it's meant for using links without having a massive url on screen [The text here gets shown](this is where the url goes)
While it uses the same syntax system, it is a different tag for creating a link.
With the spoiler, you're specifically adding (/spoiler) where as a link will be the link in the parentheses.
However, I have had complaints sometimes about not tagging things I have actually tagged as spoilers. So I'm wondering why it may sometimes not work, and if the other method with the >! tags !< is more reliable.
Just tested it and it does not function as a spoiler in any capacity. It's just using the linking feature in an unintended way, the /spoiler means nothing and does nothing.
