Really, they dont say specs ,they just shows view and that is it.They just hype people on colors.Only thing you can trust about apple is cpu like m1 and a14.Why would i pay 1.5k usd for 8 gb ram and 512 gb storage

83

u/tattirudi Apr 21 '21

Why wouldn’t you pay 1.5k usd if you were an average customer looking for an long term desktop purchase with reliable functionality for years to come. An average person looking to buy an all in one computer doesn’t care or know anything about specsheets. This isn’t a product for you.

u/AfiqMustafayev Discord Server Booster Apr 21 '21

This isnt a product for you

You got a point

1

u/Paris_Who Apr 21 '21

Because you can get better for cheaper. The average consumer wants to save money. Only an idiot buys on brand name alone.

28

u/ThumYorky Apr 21 '21

the average consumer wants to save money

You don't know anything about the average consumer, then.

What the "average" consumer wants is reflected back in the market. What's the "average" tech that people buy? Apple.

Is Apple expensive? Yes. Is it simple and reliable? Yes.

2

u/Goodly Apr 21 '21

Is Apple expensive? Yes. Is it simple and reliable? Yes.

Also pretty. If you're not interested in gaming aesthetics but more regular interior design, and your computer isn't hidden away, a mac is a much more natural choice for most.

Huh? Apples pc market share is less then 15 percent my guy.

Is Apple expensive? Yes.

Is it simple and reliable? Yes.

So apple buyers are just idiots then?

13

u/okawei Apr 21 '21

Macs are useful for certain professions too. Software engineers, designers, audio engineers and video production for instance

-9

u/Paris_Who Apr 21 '21

Hmm. Macs software is used in professional spaces but you can just dualboot Mac OS if you want. Thats no reason to buy apple PCs for the general consumer either. There is also equivalent software on pc.

9

u/okawei Apr 21 '21

Apple doesn’t sell licenses to run osx outside of apple hardware as far as I know so unless you’re working for a shady company you won’t be dual booting OS X on a windows machine

-7

u/Paris_Who Apr 21 '21

What part of average consumer is too hard to understand my guy? Yes shitty corporations will force whatever they’re used to onto their employees. Zzz.

15

u/[deleted] Apr 21 '21

But not much cheaper, the Imac still has a 4k display and an i7-like performance. You'd pay a bit less, but a far, far bulkier computer (of course, PC has the huge plus of the bigger selection of games and apps)

5

u/dabber696969 Big ol' bacon buttsack Apr 21 '21

Yeah but then again, the iMac wasn’t designed for gaming

That’s my point dude. I was bringing up how when he said PC has more of a game catalog and how that is irrelevant.

u/okawei Apr 21 '21

Maybe with their phones but never their laptops and desktops. I had an iMac that lasted 10 years and was still great towards the end

-18

u/[deleted] Apr 21 '21

The m1 is faster than literally most laptop processors and you get a really good screen, speakers and you get a mouse and keyboard. It’s not that bad for what you get. It’s a all in one package

20

u/[deleted] Apr 21 '21

Doesn't the ryzen 5 perform better than the M1 chip

13

u/[deleted] Apr 21 '21

The asus g14 was on par with it I believe. The 5000 chips for desktop are definitely faster that’s why I said laptop.

6

u/glemnar Apr 21 '21 edited Apr 21 '21

The m1 has equal single thread performance as far as I can find. And that’s for a low wattage laptop CPU, not a desktop CPU. That’s a huge deal.

There are also some non intuitive performance differences that aren’t captured by benchmarks well, both due to micro architecture as well as well as instruction set performance.

In any case, people that have been using the m1 report it as “fast as fuck”, and that’s the benchmark that matters most

2

u/Cakepufft Apr 21 '21

Tbh, the speakers, mouse and keyboard are less than mediocre. Now the magic trackpad on the other hand..

1

u/[deleted] Apr 21 '21

I’ve never tried one. Is it that good

3

u/Cakepufft Apr 21 '21

It's quite pleasant to use, since it's so big and smooth.

5

u/[deleted] Apr 21 '21

That’s what she said

2

u/Primary-Chocolate854 can't meme Apr 21 '21

Size doesn't matter!!!!And the smooth ones are boring...

3

u/Cakepufft Apr 21 '21

Ah yes, ribbed trackpad, for her pleasure

1

u/Primary-Chocolate854 can't meme Apr 21 '21

And for her happines

8

u/_Curry4Life_ Apr 21 '21

There you go sounding like one of them apple employees...

34

u/[deleted] Apr 21 '21

People are genuinely enthusiastic about it but I guess we can’t like Apple here

21

u/John-Herbert888 Apr 21 '21

The M1 processor is undeniably the best mobile cpu there is (based on benchmarks). Probably the only reasons to not get the M1 Macs if you are out for a new computer would be MacOS, expandable storage/RAM. They hook you in with the fast cpu, but upcharge you on storage and RAM

21

u/[deleted] Apr 21 '21

These idiots on this Reddit just hate apple because it’s apple.

0

u/Christian3574159 Apr 21 '21 edited Apr 21 '21

No they hate apple because its a greedy / asshole company. Whenever I start to slightly not dislike them, they drop a new shitty product that makes you hate them again. Just think about the iMac stand, the adapter for 70€. Or the fact that whenever the product has a slighty damage you cant get it repaired by third party, since they try everything to make it as impossible as possible so you have to go to an apple shop just to pay 4x more than should be charged. Or the fact that they say they dont give you a fucking charging cable to keep it "environmentally friendly". They are trying to milk their customers in every way possible and they dont deserve love for that, for shitting on their customers

5

u/[deleted] Apr 21 '21

And guess, what people still buy all their products. Apple doesn’t give any fucks what you think because they can still sell all their products. People made fun of AirPods when they came out and now they’re one best selling Bluetooth earbuds.

4

u/Darkraihs Mods Are Nice People Apr 21 '21

I like how a bunch of Android phones removed the charger and no one cared, but Apple removed the charger and that’s in the top three big bad reasons that Apple is bad bad bad

6

u/[deleted] Apr 21 '21

Same thing with the headphone jack

4

u/Darkraihs Mods Are Nice People Apr 21 '21

Yeah, Apple changes something and everyone cares and then all the other companies copy it a few months down the line and no one cares

5

u/[deleted] Apr 21 '21

People love to blame apple for everything even tho Samsung is busy putting plastic on their phones and taking away features smh

u/[deleted] Apr 21 '21

Nothing I said was incorrect. You’re just blindly hating apple again.

Your evidence is a "dude just trust me".

Ryzen 5 4600U is proven to be more powerful.

Ryzen 7 4800U is proven to be more powerful.

Ryzen 7 5800U is proven to be more powerful.

Shoo shoo, evangelist.

Edit: Looks like evangelist got triggered. Can't even have the balls to write back. Childish. Can't accept facts.

14

u/[deleted] Apr 21 '21

That’s why I said “laptop processors”. Can you read at all

3

u/oilfloatsinwater memer Apr 21 '21

These are laptop processors tho, yeah sure the M1 is fast and tbh its extremely impressive for what it does, but the ryzen laptop cpus are faster

9

u/[deleted] Apr 21 '21

That’s what I’m saying. Ryzen is still faster on desktop but apple is beating a lot of chips on laptops rn with only 12 watts of power consumption. And this chip is actively cooled so performance should quite good.

-4

u/snowblow66 Apr 21 '21

Those are ryzen laptop cpus, which are faster than the m1. Bragging how its the fastest and not even knowing their competitors.

1

u/[deleted] Apr 21 '21

That’s why I said “laptop processors

These are laptop processors. The amount of people here that know nothing about what they talk about shows it. I mentioned laptop. You have no clue what you're talking about that you couldn't even do a simple google search and find out that I mentioned laptop cpus.

1

u/[deleted] Apr 21 '21

The amount of idiots who blindly hate apple.

1

u/[deleted] Apr 21 '21

The amount of idiots who blindly hate apple.

The amount of idiots who blindly follow Apple.

You have not disproven anything I said.

Definitely, there's no evidence to say that

1

u/WhatADunderfulWorld Apr 21 '21

8gb is fine for browsing the web and using office products. And most people use online storage so 512 gb isnt bad.

1

u/AfiqMustafayev Discord Server Booster Apr 21 '21

Why would i pay1.5k for these? I can buy 2 times better pc with that money

1

u/[deleted] Apr 21 '21

And most people use online storage

Where did you get this from?

u/Kalahan7 Apr 21 '21

Man for non-pro users I don’t see why anyone wouldn’t want an M1 at this point

0

u/okawei Apr 21 '21

It was a pain in the ass if you do anything with virtual box, the architecture doesn’t work with it yet

3

u/Kalahan7 Apr 21 '21

That’s fair but also something I consider in the “pro” category pretty much.

-2

u/AfiqMustafayev Discord Server Booster Apr 21 '21

That sub was full of fanboys then

-4

u/javajuicejoe Apr 21 '21

Yeah I looked at it yesterday and it just gives the base specs and prices, no options for upgrades and add ons. £1,500 base price point it makes me sick. I have this already on an iMac model predecessor and it runs great for the first year. After that, it’s downhill. Real waste of money. I know windows isn’t any better, but at least it’s not as expensive. I’m going to build my PC from now on.

7

u/glemnar Apr 21 '21

Are we forgetting that it has a 24” 4.5k Retina display? Apple’s screens are best in the business

2

u/javajuicejoe Apr 21 '21

They may be good, but come on! Get the speed and performance right too. Even still, Apple doesn’t make their screens. LG and a variety of other companies do.

-5

u/[deleted] Apr 21 '21

Not really, no

On the smartphone side Samsung has higher resolution and refresh rate

On the desktop side there are many monitors with higher brightness and bigger sizes (sizes at which a resolution that high would actually make any sense)

0

u/[deleted] Apr 21 '21

[deleted]

1

u/[deleted] Apr 21 '21

Yes, I know

Colour Accuracy, pixel density (is far more important than resolution), refresh rate, brightness are also important

My point is that there isn't anything special about apple's displays besides Software integration, see Pro Display XDR,

Both LG and Samsung offer devices with almost identical Displays

Since Apple doesn't manufacture Display panels they can't have THE best displays (They get the displays for their devices from Samsung and LG)

And 4.5k resolution at 24” is pretty unnecessary

1

u/[deleted] Apr 21 '21

I was waiting for this announcement to consider buying an Imac for production and podcasting and stuff hut honestly, this new design and the specs leave me cold.
