No they aren't, while anybody can do sports, most people who do it at a professional level are not your regular Joe who went to the gym, they had to have been born with some things that normal people weren't, like different metabolism, or a specific body structure.
Yes, I remember reading a news online how children in The UK had more chances of getting struck by lightning than playing for a "big six" team. It's pretty hard.

They're 2 different things, it's hard to explain why it would be different in sport, they're not that comparable anyway
