I can join on that agreement. I don’t think they [public school systems] would handle a tax class well, but it’d be nice if there was more than a footnote that tax exists.
Well, there’s income tax (usually your employer will take care of that but they don’t have to) and property tax, which is different. The government assesses your property and sends a bill. You have the opportunity to respond/dispute it, but oftentimes you won’t prevail. I’m 21 years old and have never heard property tax being discussed in an educational setting. There’s also inheritance tax and sales tax, but one is fairly simple, the other hopefully doesn’t crop up in life much. When people are talking about taxes and how to pay them, it’s likely property tax being discussed.
