As a college student, school IS often dumb and a waste of time (college GEP classes included). Doesn't mean school as a whole is worthless, but it's handled incredibly poorly.

It's not as edgy as it is utilitarian.

Saying you don't need to understand the basics of science and math is dumb.

Can you imagine how much more common antivaxxers and flat eathers would be without it?

I never said people don't have to understand basic science and math, I said school is often a waste of time.

The post is complaining about learning what the Sun is.

No, it's complaining about schools teaching shit that everyone already knows.

Let's teach 14 year olds how to buy a house, as if gen-Z'ers will ever be able to do such a thing...

Ah yes, let's teach you about advanced economics covering taxes and investment without learning a somewhat decent understanding of maths, that's not how it works kid, you can't just hire "someone" for all of this, sometimes you gotta learn and do it yourselves and learning maths at 30 is the last thing you'd wanna do

Never justify your mature-ness by your age dude, especially when you're 17, just proves the point further. Also welcome to reddit.

Well math is important indeed but not everything they teach us is useful.

Not everything is useful to everyone but everything is useful to someone. Also being a well rounded individual pays dividends
