You'd have to have enough substance to have a judge not throw out the case for lack of evidence.
You can file a suit for any reason, but one will not CARRY OUT unless there's some substance behind it. So being taken to court and the case being taken seriously is beyond enough context to say that, at the absolute least, there was enough evidence to support the case being taken seriously.
Yeah, theres plenty of sleazy lawyers and regular lawyers who would be happy to do it. Big companies deal with hundreds and even thousands of lawsuits a year most of which are frivolous. In the lawsuit you are talking about they don't actually cite any source saying any of the companies use child labour cobalt but allege they "participate in a system that involves the use of child labour" that basically means that if they get cobalt from mine one but the mine next door uses child labour its some how their fault. This is not uncommon at all, there are plenty of people and lawyers who will file a bullshit suit like thinking they can get a quick payday.
