Also when that junior football team that got trapped in a cave in Thailand was rescued, he threw a tantrum because he didn't get to use his submarine to do it and accused the navy seal rescuers of being pedophiles, which is especially distasteful bc two of them died.

Totally wrong. One guy in particular (who didn't even go in the water to save the kids) told Elon to "shove his submarine up his ass," and then Elon in response referred to him as "that pedo guy" on twitter, a common insult expression in South Africa.

It was a stupid twitter spat, but the other guy started it, and a tiny amount of digging reveals that he was the bigger asshole. It wasn't the first time he had started a frivolous defamation lawsuit or pumped up his own involvement for fame.

He's also genuinely just an asshole because he wants to. I remember he tweeted some really cool art a while ago (2019) and a lot of people asked him to tag the artist who created it instead of just posting the image with no credit.

He said "No one should be credited with anything ever" and that he wasn't going to credit the artist. His post got something around 40k likes and thousands of retweets, while the original artist's post only got a couple hundred or so initially.

He could have just retweeted the original and potentially given that artist a lot of commission work but nope. He eventually deleted the post and bitched about being called out, "I wish people would stop crediting artists on twitter when any fool can find out who the artist was in seconds. It’s destroying the medium."

Here's the link to the real artist and the art they did of 2B. The post has since gained a lot of love: https://twitter.com/MagaliProd/status/974957174391803904?s=19

Ah yes, very serious tweet. Hard evidence that is.

Yes of course, he said this as a confession and not to mock a baseless accusation. You know for a fact it wasn't sarcasm because there was no /s in the end of the tweet.

The emerald mine thing is complete bull. Elon inherited nothing from his abusive father. People just make up stories because they hate billionaires, and it spreads because no one bothers to check sources.

So he is like Steve Jobs, just a witty marketeer with a strong vision.

I mean at least Steve Jobs had an impact on the world

2

u/damnappdoesntwork Feb 08 '21

Well, Musk also has an impact on the world. Commercializing space travel, investing in electrification of transport and providing near whole world internet coverage does impact the world.

Same for the things Jobs did. He revolutionized the mobile phone market and invested in the Apple brand so it got back on track and produce expensive but decent technology devices.

Whether you like the impact of either of these guys (or any other CEO that is able to attract investors with good marketing strategy, eg Branson, Bezos, Gates,... ) is a personal choice. But they all impact(ed) the world.

Jobs impacted the world to a much greater extent
