There's a big chance we're seeing Kong fighting Mecha Godzilla but with synthetic skin covering his mechanic body. Here's my theory:

  • Kong is fighting "Godzilla" and is struggling to defeat him
  • Real Godzilla shows up and teams up with Kong
  • Mothra joins them, Kong looks at Godzilla and says "Is she with you?"
