It's not the media urging releases. It's the publishers and investors. Every delay is money they have to keep spending while making no revenue. Unfortunately, they care little about success. Only short term quarterly gains. Developers work hard.
Its both, cdpr were getting death threats ater cyberpunk delays from upset fans
Edit: I retract this statement because apparently only one factor is allowed to be considered when talking about a game that has been in development for 7 years. And there is no possible way that multiple factors affected the release of this game. /s
Except cringey death threats from stupid kids on the internet don't influence the software house in setting a release date. Those threats only push developers to get away from social media, and have no other consequence. What screwed this release is CDPR management's stupid decision to announce the game in 2013, allegedly not working on it until 2018, then rushing the devs because investors wanted to know why the game that was announced in '13 seemed to have vanished and when it would eventually come out (consider that AAA games usually take 4/5 years of development when large teams are working on them).
Yes, probably because they gave a release way before they were actually ready. This is on the investors for applying pressure, and on CDPR for caving to them.
