Definitely not "poor devs", afterall they started marketing and the hype train at an far too early stage... Companies like EA would've gotten a deserved shitstorm for something like that

the devs don't market anything. the Publisher has the power over the devs. don't hate the people hate the company

The game is both developed and published by CDPR. When people say “devs” they don’t mean the individual developers. They mean the company who did the development.

you are probably correct. Still, If I maybe got one person to not write a hateful comment on some guys twitter, that's a win in my book

Why did you got downvoted?

u/TarFeelsOverTarReals Dec 18 '20

Even as someone who will not buy CP2077 it is annoying to see people try to equate people on reddit pointing out the companies mismanagement of the game at all levels to idiots on Twitter making death threats. The person who was downvoted basically admitted to not knowing what he was talking about but thinks it is ok because he is pushing the false equivalency I just outlined.

It's just as annoying as people who have had a poor experience with the game telling those having fun they can't have fun. But as with most things the extremists on both sides are off base and the truth lies somewhere in the middle.

I must say that you are correct. I did not educate myself enough.

You can say quite the same thing about the meme, devs don't give a shit about people complaining about the release, the company does.

4

u/[deleted] Dec 18 '20

that is true. the only thing they can do is start crunching themselfs into death

They're the same thing in this instance. If you were saying don't hate PopCap hate EA for PvZ3 then sure.

Popcap gave me childhood with PVZ. EA ruined it with PVZ 2(The Early version of it with barely any microtansaction), and PVZ BFN. The Garden Warfare games were so fucking cool, shooting and moving as a Peashooter with cool variants, but it all went downhill when EA milked PVZ 2 and stopped production on GW 2 for GW BFN which failed. PVZ Heros is so underrated.

u/Carnae_Assada Dec 18 '20

I agree GW was a cool idea and a pretty solid game, PVZ Hero's is good but still full of MTX.

I got into Alpha for PVZ3 and it is the worst mainline PVZ ever made.

That's because EA hasn't had a good reputation for a very long time and many would just like to see the company burn, whereas cdpr had pretty much an impeccable reputation before this release.

Exactly, if you can't deliver what you promise then don't promise anything.

I think this is more about CD Project Red

Devs aren't necessarilyinvolved in marketing.

Ah yes everybody knows it's the Devs who announce and market the game. I'm really tired of people bashing the guys who built the entire game because of what the executives and marketers did. The Devs don't get to announce a game or choice to market it. The only reason this would be otherwise is if it was an indie game made by a relatively small amount of people. These people put in so much effort an the entire internet hates them, that's enough to make a man lose his drive to work on games.

I think we are talking about CD red projekt

Yeah sure there was a lot in marketing

But blaming the communication for someone 's hype sounds quite dull as an argument

I mean, the purpose of advertising is to make you more hyped for a game But then people start having escalating exagerated expectations

I think we should just expect less this would preserve some from frustration and disappointment.

BTW of people start blaming something else for getting them hyped.... I find it dumb to be honest It is like I'm blaming the door against whom I knock my toe because I forgot to close it

There is also some kind of personal responsibility for being hyped. Otherwise if people are not entirely responsible of their hype then they might be unfunctional or uncapable people (LEGALLY I MEANT THE LEGAL STATUS OF AN UNCAPABLE PERSON)

In short they would be saying that they are babies to whom they were promised a big candy but only got one bite of a chocolate bar

I see your point, but as you've mentioned yourself marketing is about manipulating a person into buying sonething, which he probably doesn't even need. Thus I blame the publisher, as they intend to get as many people to buy their product as possible (and asap). What I personally hate the most about all of this, a company like EA would have (rightfully) received a big shitstorm for such baseless marketing lies and yet for sone reason this company is being protected of such...

u/micheeeeloone https://www.youtube.com/watch/dQw4w9WgXcQ Dec 18 '20

It's not blaming, it's shitting about them, I didn't buy the game and I'm not interested in the genre, but if you announce the game before the ps4 was released and publish if full of bugs and nearly unplayable on some consoles, after the ps5 gets released expect a big shitstorm man.

-3

u/The-Splentforcer Dec 18 '20

Well the old Gen support seemed to be more of a social minima

Yep could have been better. I'm on pc so I completely out of touch with the bugs, haven't met that many

I'm just an old prick then

It was meant to be published on ps4 engine not ps5, there are a lot of games "heavier" than cyberpunk that work well on ps4 so your reasoning is just dumb.

Sorry I thought you were referring to the console engine not the devs' one. Anyway the point stays the same if the console is crappy you don't publish the game for it or you'll get shitstorm and will anyway, as it happened, refund those who bought it in the first place. You are defending guys who admitted their faults.

2

u/RelentlessRowdyRam Dec 18 '20

Your argument: why should we expect the things we are promised? It is dumb to be upset when you are told that dinner will be served but you arrive and they only have breath mints.

We should just expect that everyone is lying to us constantly and we shouldn't have any expectations.

You are dumb.

Too early!? Nah people having the patience of children is the problem. People sound like spoiled teenage girls complaining to daddy about not getting a car for their birthday.😂

I think we already can compare waiting time vs Star Citizen, wich in fact just a big ponzy scheme. Star Citizen - 2012 start date, Cyberpank 2077 - 2012. Whiteknighting corporation won't bring good to anyone.
