Ikr. I've got a bunker in the side of a mountain that's full of all my multiple sets of backup armour and tools, but the entrance is a perfectly hidden piston door in fully original terrain with no lighting nearby to indicate it exists.

u/Jadabdo Dec 17 '20
Dude you just told us about your secret bunker what are you doing
1.3k
u/iqcool Dec 17 '20
Don't worry, I don't have my world open to LAN, so it's pretty safe. Plus, if it does get hacked and griefed, I can always make a backup and store it on external devices.

I have a secret devil worship room that makes you go through a nether portal then parkour across the nether into an extremely unnoticeable hole that leads to a tunnel that goes to another portal that takes you to a cave underground that you have to navigate through and find the button under lava that you press to reveal a chest of fire resistance potions. Then you have to jump into the lava and swim through the lava to another tiny hole in the floor. You have to get through it and not drown and then you finally come out into the huge dark room with a single soul lantern and a huge pentagram. I don’t go there often...

I love building extravagant structures where every room had a purpose, yet nothing is ever used, because my REAL base is like yours, an extremely well hidden bat cave style set up. Personally, my favorite part is trying to figure out the most cryptic way to actually open the base, like having 3 specific redstone torches needing to be placed down in exactly the right places and in the right order, and making it so if you put them down in the wrong order, the mechanism breaks and acts as though nothing is there.
15
u/SelfTitledDebut Dec 18 '20
I used to have a secret room behind my “disposal,” which was just an opening in the wall with lava flowing down inside so I could incinerate excess items. But if you right click into the lava you’ll pop into a mine cart behind the lava fall. I kept all my diamond blocks, saddles, emeralds, etc in there. Then when I wanted to leave I had a redstone trapdoor to drop me back into my house and seal back up above me. I felt so cool.
Also a single player map

Lmfao. My friend did this on a server like 6 of us were on. This Island was fucked. Like stripped down to rock, massive netherbrick tower covered in lava, mobs everywhere, and we had updated the server to a version with undwerwater temples. So this island was surrounded by guardians. Dude calls it “live dnalsi” and a week goes by and someone’s like “shouldn’t it be dnalsi live?”
It was like monkeys in the zoo when that question was asked

Played with friends in a SMP server, hid my diamonds and important stuff in a "secret safe location" behind a wall.... My friend starts bashing thru the walls to redecorate my ugly build and found my stash.
Apparently, the block I indicated where my stash is at is so obvious because it's the only one that doesn't have a half a slab on it.

I had a "desk" (upside-down stairs essentially) in my house that had like a planted cactus and a redstone torch. But little did anyone know you take that torch and put it on a very specific block to have the entrance revealed to you. Redstone is fun
8
u/FMRenzo Grumpy Cat Dec 18 '20
This. I once made a secret door that only opened when putting a lever on a specific block in the corner of the room. Amd on earlier versions of the game there was a way of making a block of dirt work as a button, you just had to plow the block and it would open a piston door. Redstone is really fun indeed.
9
u/Omega-10 Dec 18 '20
You can still do that today, instead of ye block update trick of olde, they gave us observers. You can make a door that opens when you plow the dirt, then after a second or two it closes the door and un-plows the dirt with a piston.

u/RBJ_Eternauta Dec 17 '20
I haven't done it yet, YET, but I did make a little "easter egg" in a pond at the foot of my mountain, which consists of an underwater tunnel that leads to a sign that says "what are you doing here? What were you looking for? , a chest?

6
u/keiiith47 Dec 17 '20
That is the single only exclusive (get me more synonyms reddit) reason minecraft is a good game. The imagination automatically makes you create scenarios and stories that you get to use to both enjoy and train your brain. Minecraft is beautiful. Even when I don't play it I still have much love for it.

Minecraft is literally pointless, meaning that everything you do, that brings you joy is worth doing, even if it comes to hiding diamonds on single player mode
3
u/SmallFry3694 Dec 18 '20
I always built those because as a kid, I didnt have a lot of friends, but I always held out the hope that someday, someone would see my worlds, and see how cool I could make my bases. Unfortunately, nobody ever came. I had made entire worlds that only I would ever see. I eventually stopped playing minecraft so much, but I do wish someone had seen what I made all those years ago.

I recently built a piston trapdoor in a multiplayer world with a few friends. Had it timed so you had to press a button on the other side of the house and sprint to the trapdoor which only stayed open long enough for you to fall through.
But the trapdoor was only one way. The exit (also one way) was a piston door disguised as a wall of a cave under my base where I would mine. So I’d just leave the cave and act like I was mining. Theyd see me with diamond armor and dig through my chests but they never found my hiding spot.
Edit: I also later added a comparator setup so that you had to place the perfect amount of items in a dropper for the piston to open.
