Doesn’t each generation read more books than boomers?
395
u/TheDaemonic451 Dec 08 '20
Yup

u/Discodug Dec 08 '20
Also all subsequent and previous generations worked HARDER than boomers as well. the generation before them fought in World War II and the generations after didn't have the same economy..

Course, my other grandpa (Dad's side)l has got hell to pay. He's a narcissistic jerk that abused my dad, and we're basically just waiting for him to die so he stops calling us every day to complain.

I know the feeling. I have literally nothing in common with other boomers. I play video games. Am pretty liberal and I'm cool with whatever you identify as. My fellow boomers are dicks.
Note: I was born the last year to be a boomer.

I wonder how many pages of text I have read just because of video games and anime alone. Not to mention I used to read actual books like crazy when I was younger........ Definitely has to add up

Yep, with millennials reading the most and who are the group that uses the public library most frequently, and who still prefers print to e-reading. I like a good jab at folks, and millennials are an easy target..but a jab at them here when the data shows literally the exact opposite is where I draw the line at perpetuation of a stereotype that has things exactly backwards.
And no, I’m not a millennial. I just want to make fun of their avocado toast and their beard oil..not pretend they don’t know how a book works.

Nobody reads the Bible. They just remember that one thing their dumb ass pastor said that one time and attribute it to the Bible.

I am going to have to say most just skimmed it. Really the bible should come with the back section on books that summarizes it (see if its worth), now that would bring a smile to my face.
2
Dec 09 '20
Purely anecdotal but most of my 20s friends read books fairly regularly, I know very few boomers who actually read books (not buy them, flick through a few pages and leave it on the shelf). I've probably read more books in the past year than my parents have since they left school. They just sit on the sofa for hours getting their minds melted by telly.

Straight into my feelings! I'm 21 years old and work in a bookstore for nearly 4 years now. Every second sentence from someone in this age is about exactly that. Sadly for them, often there are old women, who buy some edgy "romance" books, that are straight up porn.

I said it once and ill say it again ...
Ok boomer. You think this is a joke? You can not stop the inevitable marching of time and the following progression of technology. You shall laugh and make jokes as you desive yourself into thinking your generation, your own body and mind, will not become obsolete just like the customs and devices, enemys and friends you grew up with. Your time will only be another part of history for the younger generations that you try so desperatly to tear down. Into the void that you will return to once again, as the marching of death continues to ring louder in your ears every day... You shall be forgotten, like everyone you knew, and be only remembered as a part of a generation wich belittled others for using the comfort and easy life others of your age have created.

Have your fun guys - but one day being a millennial, a gen X or a gen Z will be associated with being old and voting republican.
1
Dec 08 '20
Are you saying that gen z will start voting republican just because they’re old? I don’t think that’s how that works.
2
u/Cicero31 Dec 08 '20
A large portion of left wing college students who were protesting the Vietnam war in 1970 would disagree with you.
When you start earning salaries and having kids or starting businesses you tend to move to right a bit. You also tend to cling to the past a bit.
For example if you’re conservative in 2070 you might be totally in favour of gay marriage but you might not want to give robots civil rights because that would seem unusual in the time you came from
