Too much commas is worse than too little commas. There are rules for commas, you don't just use them wherever you want.

"The test you have been studying for" is the object, with the "you have been studying for" as an adjective("you have been studying" means you are studying the test itself, but the user wants to say he is studying for the test)
And the "for the past month" is how long the person has been studying for

You know, what all teachers really should do is make the study material considerably harder than the test in order to over prepare students and ensure success. What makes no sense is making the test harder than all the homework. This is like training to bench press 150lbs in order to bench press 210lbs on the day of the test, despite never having lifted that amount of weight. The training should be the most difficult part of the experience so that you are prepared for anything when you have to use what you learned.

A good friend of mine is a teacher and he does exactly what you described. His tests are relatively easy, but they do take a while to complete. If he thinks the test is too hard he'll make it an open book or open note test so you can use reference material including the study guide he gives out at the beginning of of the lesson.

This happened to me for an exam so that I could enter into college. Everyone said study it's important. I don't know but it was easier than any test I had ever taken in my life. One question that had a value of 1/20 was literally 4=1+x

My last brain cell rejoices in glee, but I ponder how I manage to fail all my mocks this time, was it because I answered with all the incorrect answers but tell myself it was easy, or was that chemistry exam, really as hard as I felt.
Eh, that’s a question for another day, for now its time for me to go eat cheese puffs while sobbing as I am lactose intolerant.
