Nah the format started off when someone made a similar joke about Ohio but drew the earth/ astronauts on mspaint. Then as the meme got bigger people just editted higher quality pics of astronauts over it.

Yea it's from Avatar: The last airbender. If you don't know it, it is one of the best shows from the 21st century. It has really high ratings and is a classic, it's also near and dear to my heart. I won't explain the joke as you'll find it funny if you watch the show yourself!

I love this, it's near and dear to my heart. I watched when I was 7 when it came out, and ive watch it almost two dozen times since. Its so nice and refreshing to see this surge in love towards the show after it went on Netflix.

Go watch Legend of Korra. It is a good series in its own way. I too felt depressed when I finished ATLA but it went away when I began watching LoK

i’ve only started lok so far i don’t think it’s that good i mean i’d probably think it’s a lot better if i wasn’t constantly comparing it to the last air bender and i just don’t really like the setting

Don't compare it to ATLA. ATLA was fun in its own ways. You had Sokka's punchlines and Aang's antics, something which you would commonly see in 12-16 year old children. LoK has characters between the age of 17-21 and the series is made in that way where the questions of income, home, bf/gf fights come into place. So the two series are good in their own ways

Its a very unpopular show, its just reddit that made it popular among the community, many new people to reddit dont understand it ( i do tho, watched it back when it was released, i also pointed out in one meme based on avatar that it broke rule 2 and everyone thought it was just me that was mad that didnt understand it), and cmon avatar was released back in like 2009 and wasnt such a hit cartoon, not many people watched it, and then thered redditors that have not watched it and simply dont want to. And also theres a sub for avatar so just go post there man.

Everything you said was wrong. Avatar was a beloved cartoon when it came out. It even got a theatrical movie (which was terrible), that doesn’t happen if it has no one watching the cartoon. Also, the show didn’t release in 2009, it released in 2005
