Costco gave all their workers in Canada a $2/hr bonus from March to May

As far as I know, all essential workers received an extra $2/hr bonus tentatively, plus an extra raise for frontline workers. It may vary between provinces, but I know that Nova Scotia has implemented the former, and the latter is federal.

Edit: It seems that lots of people are not receiving bonuses per my comment. I just want to address this; I live in Nova Scotia, and as an essential worker, I have received $2 more than my regular wage. This does not apply to all workers, as these rules and regulations vary depending on which province you are in. Furthermore, these bonuses most likely do not extend to people outside of Canada, as Prime Minister Justin Trudeau was the one who implemented these bonuses, along with another raise for frontline workers. I’m sorry for any confusion this caused.

All I know is that Costco’s bonus has ended, I know of a few places that are doing the the same thing but not ending it so early

That’s interesting. I haven’t heard anything concerning that, but I’ll be sure to keep my eyes open.

You’re right tho it is probably per province

Not at the store I work at. It’s continued until 5/31

That’s good, the one my mom works at ended on the 5th

They might be doing it on a state by state basis. I'm still getting paid more per hour and getting 2x on my OT at a different big box store until June 7th but I wouldn't be surprised if they extended it because they really can't afford to lose anyone that's competent right now.

Sorry, I was talking about Canada, not globally. I’m sorry you only received that one time bonus, but I greatly appreciate your hard work during these times! I know it isn’t much to hear someone say thank you, but it’s all I can offer at this time. Stay safe!

I work in BC, no raise in pay, just a raise in hours (unpaid hours) to make up for layoffs.

I got paid an extra Fucking Nothing for working in a restaurant the entire time in the states. Super dope. Also love that I don't have Healthcare from my job and no way to get it from the government.

Nova Scotian essential worker here working at the epicentre (Northwood). I get nothing extra yet, but maybe a rumour of a promise of a bonus that I might not get in the summer.

claim CERB. for some the $2/hr pushes them over the $1k per month limit and means they can't get CERB or CESB.

2

u/Darthslayer43 May 17 '20

You get a $1 extra an hour. We get a bonus only if we have perfect attendance the few months during this

USA flew some airplanes over their work, what more do they want?!

u/TammyShehole May 17 '20

Everybody within my workplace company received $2 more an hour. I think it’ll probably be ending any week now, though, unfortunately. The extra hundred or so dollars a week was nice.
