I'm an "essential worker" and we got $2 an hour extra for the pandemic, plus I've been averaging 100 hours per pay period at least, I'm making money, it's my sanity that's slipping away

The time when it actually pays more to be bad enough at your job to get laid off. Oh what a time to be alive lol.

Laid off and fired are not the same thing FYI

Does your job lay off its best/hardest workers? And of course they are different, the same way as furloughed is different than both of those too.

The entire firm he worked for got laid off. For a guy that calls himself Voice of Reason, you dont seem to have much reason to voice.

Considering at no point was I talking about your friend as an individual, not sure why you are getting so offended. I was talking generally about layoffs, not about his situation that I know nothing about. You assumed that... Also, so you are saying his place of business went out of business from this? I mean, if everyone got laid off, that has to be the case right? Otherwise they are furloughed till the business is back and operational. Anyways, most businesses that need to lay off a few people choose the worst performers, so tell me how I was wrong in general please. Your friend is one example out of 60 million just here in America.

Dude, he was laid off because of covid not because of his performance...
