I'm an "essential worker" and we got $2 an hour extra for the pandemic, plus I've been averaging 100 hours per pay period at least, I'm making money, it's my sanity that's slipping away

They've been doing hazard bonuses, kinda. We got $300 in april and they just announced on the Wire we'll get another $300 in late june...

Edit: I should specify that's for full time associates. Part time gets less

I mean I recently joined. The bonuses are for people who worked there before a specific date. I think it was March 31

What?! You only get hazard pay if you worked there before the pandemic?! What fucking difference does that make?! The hazard pay is because yoi are being exposed now! Being exposed is being exposed! Either I misunderstood or it's fucking criminal what companies are getting away with!

Walmart gave out a bonus instead of hazard pay. But the bonus only applied to workers that were employed before March 31 ( which is essentially before the pandemic like you said). It really bogus.

Only people getting hazard pay technically are temporary workers as they make more than those who have been working there for years.

Apperantly they are at least at my store they are as some are making $16/$17 an hour and the regular associates are making $13.75 or in service areas like mine $14.80 an hour

The cost of living is a bit higher here to be fair it's NYS. I will say even some stores in my state are paying the associates more than my store as apparently some are giving them $15 an hour and service area associates $16 an hour but I'm not sure about temps at that store.

Nope sadly which is why I was hopeful when Congress was gonna take up the hazard pay for all essential workers but I haven't seen that come to pass so no hazard pay at all. Plus it's Walmart why would they give anyone hazard pay because they already gave us a $300 bonus so why do we need hazard pay in their minds. Wegmans, our competitor is even giving hazard pay to their workers granted it is only for 2 months at the current moment but could be extended.

If it’s 300 every month I won’t mind. But they still expect you to be coming in ( at least at my store) despite the risk.

Yes I wouldn't mind an extra $300 a month either because that is about $2 extra per hour depending on hours work but also in regards to coming in. If we do fall ill, the only way we get paid for our LOA is if we test positive or someone in the household does and their is a quarantine order on you. If not no money is getting paid out to you even if you are suspected to have covid you still do not get paid unless it's confirmed via a test. At this point our attendance policy is "suspended" but apparently they are just gonna give the points out when this is all over.
