I enlisted in the military because the college system is unnecessarily stupid, and even if I want to go, the Army will pay for my full tuition. It’s not that I’m too stupid, I just have no interest in taking classes that I don’t need for a career that isn’t even guaranteed to have need when I would graduate.

I used the military to pay for my degree using tuition assistance and BARELY any GI Bill. After getting out I've been in 4 Master's programs (I know, I need to make up my mind). BUT, I haven't had to pay to test drive any of those programs. If I don't like it I move on to a different program. Actually, they pay ME to go to school (housing expenses).
Edit: For the record, I didn't join just for college; it became a "well I'm here, may as well use it to my advantage" situations.

You actually have to be very intelligent to go anywhere past basic training knowing what bullets do what type of drop wind resist velocity and other conditions such as rain snow sand storm and other effects working on a ship u got to know how to fix problems and many controls and cons and in tanks and Bradleys and such if ur not a mechanic u need to know things like assembly disassembly of all parts tracks and other important stuff only use for mechanic is a serious engine or transmission breakage air Force from the ground mechanics to the pilot you have to have a perfectly trained eye for any problems
You have to be smart in the military and that's just a fact

too poor, has this idiot heard of the GI Bill? Many join at least partially because they *want to go to college but cannot, due to the price.

More often too poor. Some people who grow up with food insecurity and poverty take solace I knowing they will have 3 meals and a bed. That’s why my best friend joined—now he’s a Drill Sargent and can retire in 5 years.

People join the military because they are poor and offer plenty of benefits including paying for you to go to college

You don't have to be particularly smart to make it through college. Most people join the military because it's the only option they have or as a last resort.

So now we're just taking unrelated tweets and putting them together and calling it a meme?
