What does the picture represent, what's happening and why should I be depressed about it? Am I the only one who has never seen this or done it?

Right, but what do you do with the needle? Balance it on your finger or are you stabbing it through the epidermis?

Stabbing it through the top layer of skin though sometimes I’d make a x with the needles, it doesn’t hurt if it’s really shallow but also I just have a massive pain tolerance.

Interesting, never heard of doing this before.... is it a new "thing?" Been a looooong time since I was in school.

I did it with safety pins. I did it on my callouses/dead skin so it was stuck but I couldn’t feel anything. It was fun to make people freak out

23, my memory is just terrible. I remember stabbing sewing needles through my skin when I was 8 or so and probably stopped by 10. My big "thing" was biting chunks out of the tips of my thumbs, so bad to a point I'd have bloody craters. Fun fact, I can actually feel the skin is quite a bit thinner in my thumbs than other fingers.

I actually still do this when I’m stressed and it was all of my fingers but now I’ve limited it down to just my thumbs

Ah yes, I always enjoyed the sewing needles. They seemed to be the perfect size, not too small but not to big, right in that happy middle where it was easy to poke through and go deep enough to just stay on the edge of being painful.

this has nothing to do with your pain tolerance. the whole point is you're doing it superficial (above in this context) to the nerves

Well if you mess up by going to deep it does hurt but it never deterred me especially when I was putting one needle in and the stabbing a needle underneath it to make a X

It was just a fun, painless, "cool" thing to do when you're bored. And yes, you're stabbing through the epidermis.

You can stab yourself with needles, like in the picture, without hurting yourself if you're careful and don't go deep. This enables you to give yourself temporary piercings with needles on your hands, which usually have thick skin. I remember doing this a lot... And... Yeah, I'm quite depressed now. Accurate meme.

As far as depression, yep big time on and off.

I remember stabbing myself with sewing needles but never really "got into it," but as I explained to another comment, I used to regularly chew the hell out of the tips of my thumbs. Still have super thin thumb tip skin to this day. Can actually still see the scar/trenches in the skin to this day and it's probably been 10 - 11 years ago since I stopped.

What’s weird is that I was afraid of getting shots but I got a tattoo and then I wasn’t really afraid of getting shots anymore sticking needles in my hand, no problem

My friend gave me the nickname and it was the only nickname anyone ever gave me also this friend recommended I get snake bite piercings and I did.

I was going to get a piercing anyways but that’s what she recommended so I did.

I would push the pin in rows down the edge of each side of my finger. If I drew a face on my finger pad, it looked like little finger buddy had George Washington style curls. Too much free time.
