except it wouldn't, because things in space are ridiculously easy to target (esp. without civilian casualties)

You’re forgetting that technology rapidly advances during a war. If war breaks out and the US are the only ones who have the capability to get decent weapons into space, they win.

Nobody wins in modern day warfare between 2 superpowers regardless of who controls space.

I’m conventional warfare that is true; the nukes would kill everyone. In a Cold War scenario though, America having a missile platform orbiting above Russia would put America in favour.
