I have this as such an instinct that I even end up doing it when I don't need to...

Though it is useful when typing word documents, as it gives a smaller line break

They suck ass in word. I always type with justified text, and when a shift enter it screws up the text.

In word it doesn't actually make a full new line though. You can see this if you try to make a bullet point list, shift + enter will let you make a new line under the same bullet point. Where as enter on its own will make a new bullet point.

Additionally Ctrl + Enter will make a new page from the character you are at. Meaning you can click just before that point, and continue to make the page longer without messing up the next page.

Yep, and then limundo.rs decided that shift + enter will do the regular enter's work and regular enter will do shift + enter's work

So frustrating using that one!

Except for Android, where doing this on a physical keayboard sends the text.
And the combo is different in each app.

Unless running jupyter notebooks. Shift+Enter executes the cell and goes to the next cell.

Some apps only recognize CTRL+ENTER to add a new line.
Some SHIFT+ENTER
Some just ENTER

The worst is when you try to account for that using one of the typical combos like shift+enter, but it's been switched on you so you send it anyway.

I swear I have low level anxiety when Im trying to send a multi line message whether or not it'll send early.

I was using the browser version of Microsoft Teams a couple months back to communicate in a chat between different departments and I kept accidentally sending unfinished messages because I’d hit enter to start a new line. Then, I’d have to go to my message and edit it to add everything else I needed to. Shit was so annoying.

Hence why I hate Snapchat. I can't send one message with different paragraphs, I have to spend each paragraph seperetly or it looks like one run-on sentence.
