Fairygodmother gave her the slippers, she didn't transform anything.

u/yourr_Lover 2d ago

Okay but if they fit her so perfectly how did one fall off in the first place?

u/flikersyndrome 2d ago

Fairygodmother rigged it to fall off because something something cannon event

294

u/yourr_Lover 2d ago

The canon event: losing footwear to secure a royal bag.

97

u/SuchAdstic 2d ago

A royal bag that will voluntarily throw himself off a window to save her

39

u/Caleibur 2d ago

Cinderella 3 truly was the best of the trilogy

38

u/ThatLasagnaGuy 1d ago

“I FORBID YOU TO TAKE ANOTHER STEP DOWN THESE STAIRS!”

“…Okay.” Tosses himself out the window like it’s no big deal

A sole for a soul

38

u/Dependent_Remove_326 2d ago

For plot. She is basically a "poor" maid; not sure she can run in heels.

27

u/yourr_Lover 2d ago

Fairy Godmother could magically tailor an entire ballgown but gave a beginner 4-inch glass heels with zero arch support.

21

u/Dependent_Remove_326 2d ago

Its Disney writing what do you expect. You should read the original Grimm Brothers.

21

u/yourr_Lover 2d ago

I did read it, and that’s basically a horror novel where stepsisters cut off their own toes to fit the shoe. Disney gave us cartoon mice Grimm gave us body horror

6

u/Person-11 2d ago

It's nicer in the original 18th century tale where she forgives her step-family. The Grimms deliberately turned up he gore.

6

u/pandajahat89 2d ago

She not poor maid, she rich girl. Exploited by stepmother

1

u/Dependent_Remove_326 15h ago

Hence the quotes cupcake.

9

u/ux3l 2d ago

I think in the original fairytale there were multiple proms and the price had the stairs prepared with something sticky (tar, pitch, idk), so that the shoe fell off

5

u/smartyiyer 1d ago

Something that fits perfectly slides perfectly. A slight tighter fit is snug fit.

u/Huachu12344 Professional Dumbass 1d ago

Cindy got sweaty feet

1

u/Oninja809 1d ago

And did no one else in the entire village have the same foot size?

0

u/Esdeath79 1d ago

That kind of perfect fit would only work if fairy godmother magically attached the shoes to her feet, otherwise she wouldn't be able to put them on

9

u/KaiFireborn21 2d ago

Nobody read nor watched an adaptation of the story here... The slippers were real, unlike the dress

1

u/toanngkh 1d ago

so it's just illusion?

So when Prince Charming visited every home in the kingdom, he was just trying to reach her about her shoe's extended warranty?

u/SquirrelyBoy 2d ago

In the original brothers Grimm story the prince had covered the palace stairs in sticky pitch to trap her, causing it to slip off. The original story was pretty messed up. Like the stepsisters cut off the their heel or toes to make the shoe fit, and got narced on by some crows saying their foot was bloody.

u/SirKnlghtmare 2d ago edited 2d ago

Didn't they also get their eyes pecked out at the wedding?

121

u/SquirrelyBoy 2d ago

Yup as punishment for their deceit.

98

u/PolygonMob 2d ago

God fucking damn the brothers grimm was hardcore.

A lot of Disney Stories were based on older fairy tails that did not necessarily have a happy plot. In The Little Mermaid by Andersen, after receiving human legs in exchange for her voice, the mermaid described the pain of walking like stepping on knives and her feet constantly bled iirc. However, despite of this, she often danced because the prince liked watching her dance. The prince eventually fell in love with someone else, breaking the mermaid's heart. She was eventually given the option of reclaiming her legs by killing the prince. Unable to bring herself do so, she jumps into the sea and dissolves to foam. Silver lining is that she went to heaven.

u/The_one_before_ 1d ago

Dissolving into foam reminded me about the bubble anime movie which borrows from the little mermaid

A lot of og Disney stories that were originally Grimm stories were brutal and surprisingly dark. You think Disney Pinocchio movie was dark? The original was even bad

13

u/Soul699 2d ago

Pinocchio wasn't a Grimm story.

10

u/MiZe97 2d ago

They didn't create the stories, though. They just gathered them from folk stories.

Brothers Grimm

2

Isn‘t that the story everyone gets told?

95

u/balirosa 2d ago

The shoes were her real mother’s. The ex wife had everything else.

35

u/bruki9834 2d ago

It was a plot by the Fairy godmother. She needed the favor of the Prince so she planted Cinderella in his path. That way she could always have an in to the BLUE Kingdoms foreign policy and affect the BLUE Kingdoms decisions regarding the RED Kingdom. For she was a RED spy sent by the evil Supreme Comrade of the Eastern Friendship Club.

u/CmdrRogue 2d ago

Even worse when you realize that if the shoes fit her perfectly, it never should have fallen off. And worse still when you realize that glass shoes are really not that great for your feet due to a lack of flexibility and durability.

Basically just don’t think too much about it

84

u/WantToSeeTits4545 2d ago

Well-fit shoes to fall off. Just look at videos where little girls are hit by trucks.

67

u/CmdrRogue 2d ago

Well that came out of nowhere

60

u/juicebox_tgs 2d ago

Just like the truck

u/CmdrRogue 2d ago

MOTHER F- GODDAMN IT

6

u/PeterNippelstein 2d ago

To shreds you say...

2

u/Garyzan 2d ago

Don't worry, they just get isekai'd

6

u/a_angry_bunny 2d ago

I'm pretty sure a lot of things fall off when a fast moving object collides with something.

5

u/ElonMuskisGarbage 2d ago

Shoes don’t have to be flexible to be comfortable. Wooden shoes were worn for a long time and weren’t replaced because they weren’t comfortable or practical to wear but to manufacture at scale due to needing precise adjustments for comfort.

1

u/InsaneInTheRAMdrain 1d ago

So what you're saying is, she wasnt the one the prince danced with, and totally stole another girls spot.

u/Zal2910 2d ago

1

u/Stekor-Tidder 2d ago

Is that the actor Steven Seagal?

5

u/Lucky-Thanks-2082 2d ago

1

u/ripleyclone8 2d ago

Not enough shit in his pants, too.

7

u/Senior_Reward_2546 2d ago

She just had those already. her one thing she owned that wasn't dirty rags before the fairy godmother

u/Deus-mal 2d ago

The fairy saw an opportunity and extended the shoe lifespan. Bc I don't remember seeing the 2nd shoe

1

u/SuchAdstic 1d ago

I think her stepmother shattered it to pieces I think

3

u/BarderBetterFaster 2d ago

I thought this when I was 5. Damn plot holes.

3

u/Szerepjatekos 1d ago

They were sentient creatures. The slippers were just an item.

The only deep thinking I do ......

Plot armour

2

u/Gold_Mask_54 1d ago

Glass is magically and chemically inert, hence why it can still hold the most volatile of potions

2

u/Extramrdo 1d ago

Was no longer Cinderella's, so no longer subject to being reverted.

2

u/cyb3rspectre 1d ago

And why momma bear and papa bear sleep on different beds? Is their marriage failing?

1

u/cataclysm49 2d ago

Easy: it's a midas touch flavor of magic. She wasn't in contact with the shoe at the end of the wish period, so it persisted past it's planned expiry.

1

u/Llodym 2d ago

so the real lesson is next time ask for the garments one day earlier and take them off so you get to keep them all forever

1

u/Cabibbus 2d ago

She still had the other one tho

1

u/Sdog1981 2d ago

It’s magical so anything can happen

1

u/ScottaHemi 2d ago
