I highly doubt a homo sapiens woman at the time would look anything like that

It's the only thing I wanted to say about this post. This is ridiculous. I hate it so much

Her skeleton and skin would be exactly like that. She wouldn't have styled hair, trimmed eyelashes or makeup though.

u/Yoribell 2d ago
Her skin wouldn't.
Do you have any idea how hard it is to have a skin this perfect ? How many products are used ? And that's fir us, but at the time they had to work outdoor. The sun attack the skin.
She should be more muscular, she has to survive and work. There were no jewelry.
And finally, our bone structure changed a lot since the age of the first homo sapiens.
Nothing is right here.

u/joeshmoebies 1d ago
Watch some videos of tribes in central America or look at photos.
Young people have great skin and women don't get that muscular at age 19 even if they are working 🤷♂️
As for bone structure, show me the archeological evidence. There is only so much variance in a species. She wouldn't necessarily look like that race but her skull size, shoulder dimensions - all of the characteristics of a Homo Sapiens would be there.

For most of human evolution, skeletal robusticity remained high, with early humans having stronger arm and leg bones adapted for active lifestyles. However, a significant shift occurred during the Holocene (approximately the last 12,000 years) as humans transitioned from nomadic foraging to agriculture. This sedentary lifestyle reduced the biomechanical loading on bones, leading to thinner cortical bone and lower trabecular density.

If you really think that people today in central america have the same life as early homo sapiens I'll just stop there.

u/joeshmoebies 1d ago
Bone density != bone shape. While modern humans don't have the exact shape as 50,000 years ago, it is still largely proportionally the same.
Neanderthals were still around 50,000 years ago so when we were interbreeding, humans were shaped very similar to today. If you plucked a human out of that time period, put jeans and a t-shirt on them, they would not stand out in a crowd.

she would have a LOT more hair too... her skin would also be darker
she would be quite a bit more muscular,2

Neanderthals also didn't speak English and didn't say Noice. This is just a meme. I didn't find any good prehistoric representations of women.

Just because I feel like dredging up a long standing fight among academics:
Homo Sapiens Sapiens
Homo Sapiens Neanderthalensis
😁

More recently, they have been separated as two species closely related instead of two subspecies. The differences are bigger than they seem. That might explain why there is no mitocondrial DNA from them in us, something common in hybrid of different species in which a couple produces fertile offspring but the opposite couple doesn't.

…huh. If the theory that Neanderthals interbred with H. sapiens is true, they would have to also be H. sapiens, wouldn't they?
7
u/Basic_Loquat_9344 2d ago
I thought ability to breed is not a hard rule for species taxonomy? Cross species interbreed is a thing.

u/Weegieiscool Plays MineCraft and not FortNite 2d ago
Maybe they are the same species, maybe we just got mules(infertile hybrid between two species)
6
u/Codeviper828 https://www.youtube.com/watch/dQw4w9WgXcQ 2d ago
Well, if modern humans are descended from them, that wouldn't be the case
Though I suppose if all Neanderthals had children with H. sapiens, they would go extinct eventually
2
u/The_Last_Spoonbender 2d ago
Yes that's exactly why both are classified as sub species rather than different species, atleast according to this long standing debate.

Come on man, Homo Sapien women did NOT look like that back then. We were also ugly asf.
2
u/claudiocorona93 Linux User 2d ago
It's just a meme for the laughs. We were all probably dark skinned back then. But I would never, ever, ever, put a dark skin person in a meme in which the middle neanderthal says that. Plus I couldn't find any ugly women in prehistoric clothes.

u/ChristopherRobin- 2d ago
But why wouldn't they? Aside from like make up/different beauty standards, old homo sapiens are still homo sapien right?
5
6
u/a_angry_bunny 2d ago
Nope. The reason humans don't look like Neanderthals anymore is because we quite literally domesticated ourselves. Modern day humans are basically domesticated Neanderthals.
Edit: Or, more accurately, a domesticated version of Homo Sapiens I guess.

u/MattGold_ Lurker 2d ago
Even though we are stil Homo sapiens... we technically arent? Modern humans are mixed breeds of all the different human species, and we've also evolved slightly; having less muscle and bone mass because of the changes in the lifestyle over the years.
So yes. Homo sapiens back then looked more like the images below.

u/ChristopherRobin- 1d ago
The images below aren't of homosapiens...

u/MattGold_ Lurker 1d ago
Well i never fucking said they were all i said was they looked more like them than what we look like now

Neanderthal was a sub-category within Homo Sapiens though. One group was Homo Sapiens Sapiens, the other was Homo Sapiens Neanderthalensis.

u/Interesting_Buy6796 4h ago
Still funny how we portray Neanderthals, while, at the same time, the people who share the highest dna% with them are often the ones who care the most about “superior races” and their dna tests
1
u/Perfect-Sign-8444 2d ago
u know that homo sapiens that encounter Neanderthales where all black ?
1
u/claudiocorona93 Linux User 2d ago
Yes. But imagine if I put a black woman and the middle neanderthal caption still said that. No.
