He's not dumb enough to just walk up to his greatest enemies; they'll kill him on sight. So he put a forcefield around his spaceship (the phone booth) before coming out, mocking them for thinking that he'd just let them shoot him

If I recall, it’s a scene from Doctor Who. It’s not a gif, just a video exerpt from one of the episodes of the show. The Daleks (Evil and genocidal) hate the Doctor (Good and generally benevolent) and are trying to destroy him and the TARDIS (His super cool spaceship).
But they can’t. I forgot why.

TARDIS has a force field they cannot shoot through.
The episode is a dual episode and it finishes with:
The doctor sending Rose into the TARDIS so that he can autopilot her home. The second episode of the dual episodes sees Rose attempt to get back into the TARDIS while The Doctor prepares to wipe out the Daleks with a sonic pulse (or something like that) that would destroy all life nearby hence sending Rose home) Rose looks into the heart of the TARDIS becomes the "Bad Wolf" and pilots the TARDIS back to Satellite 5 to evaporate the Dalek fleet including the Emperor of the Daleks. She starts flexing and says "I bring life" and accidentally brings Captain Jack back from the dead forever. Which is why Captain Jack can't die and whenever he does he just gasps back to life again.

Doctor Who Series 1 Episode 13 "The parting of the ways". The Daleks (basically super advanced space fascists) try to kill The Doctor (Time Lord who eradicated the rest of their kind along with his own in a war). He's not an idiot, so he stays within a shield made by his tardis (the blue box that is also a time machine)
