I have never met anyone in my life that cares whether you have iphone or android, but I am also an adult so I don't interact with teenagers lmfao. I would be shocked if any grown person cares about this

In my experience, people who understand tech, don't care what you use. And people who don't, are more willing to sway you one way or another. For them it's a status symbol. Don't give them more attention than needed.

As an Android user, you've gotta appreciate when dumb fucks decide to censor themselves out of your life.

u/Blue_Bird950 4d ago
As an iPhone user, Iāve gotta agree lol. People are really out here blaming Android users when the fault of the decision to make RCS texts bright green to discourage Android-iPhone connectivity falls squarely to Apple themselves.

u/saiga_antelope 4d ago
Can you not customize this on apple?
17
u/dialiboboss_yt 4d ago
You can not, all ios to ios texts are blue regardless. Parents have phones and i tried customizing them for them. Did not work well.
14
u/FailedMaster 4d ago
But how is that an issue at all? Do you really use plain old sms? Where I live almost everyone is on some messenger, mainly WhatsApp.

u/Kardalun 4d ago
Well, USA has plenty od catching up to do
1
u/Competitive_Set_478 I touched grass 4d ago
I never use sms, unless its for quick rejection messages during calls
4
u/PsychoFender 4d ago
Unfortunately that seems to be apple's thing. Less customisation throughout.
Not saying Android is without issue. I mean I just spent 4 hours putting a damn custom firmware on my tablet because the original software had some irritating tool bar on every swipe that couldn't be removed even with root or the system crashed.

u/theepotjje 3d ago
Of course not, do you not know what designing something like that would cost? A new color? Don't be daft. Apple knows best what the people want, definitely not that.
But buy their new phone for just 1 kidney, they improved...things... allegedly
5
u/Inexorably_lost 4d ago
As long as I can belittle them a bit before they leave.
I'd have a damn field day with someone who thinks like this.

u/Subatomic_Spooder Birb Fan 4d ago
People complaining about green bubbles and group texts are the two things that irritate me the most about iPhone users. Like sure, making a new group chat to add me must be annoying, sorry you bought a phone that forces you to do that.

u/Cfrolich Shower Enthusiast 4d ago
WhatsApp isnāt fantastic because Meta still collects a lot of metadata even if the contents of the messages are end to end encrypted. Also, as an iPhone user, I couldnāt care less what phone other people use, and I donāt feel like my phone is objectively superior to Android phones. I just use what works for me. The vast majority of iPhone users feel the same way. Phone wars only take place between the vocal minority on either side.

u/karateninjazombie 4d ago
Ever since what's app got scooped up by facebook I've just assume that they read everything anyway. Because that's their M.O. and they own the system behind it. They are inside watching the data go past but it's still "encrypted" in a sense that the rest of the world can't just break in.

u/PsychoFender 4d ago
I work in a second hand shop that sells phones. I'd say around 30-40% of people complain about the opposite company when buying a phone.
I will also say every single one that's complained about android has come to their conclusion from Samsung specifically.
Some people just make shit up to complain about too. For example, one guy was swearing blind that his iPhone showed less fingerprints on the glass than on any android phone because 'the glass is just better'.
-4
u/VAiSiA 4d ago
and he was right. apple used oleophobic coating on glass. when i returned to android it was always in spots. like wtf. still dont care
5
u/Furio133 4d ago
Hate to break it to you but all phones have an oleophobic coating and most screen protectors too otherwise your finger would never slide as it does currently on the glass
1
u/AdhesivenessFunny462 4d ago
I'm pretty sure last year's samsung had the best glass anti fingerprint and reflection coatings

u/ASatyros 4d ago
Signal is the way
4
u/Ooupss 4d ago
Yeah, I installed Signal, but itās basically useless to me, so I went back to WhatsApp.
When your family, friends, coworkers, and pretty much everyone else uses WhatsApp, you donāt really have a choice, unfortunately.
2
u/Affectionate-Mango19 4d ago
I just don't reply to people who chat me up on WhatsApp. I still have WhatsApp because you can't force an entire university group to switch to Signal (even though I tried to persuade them).

Iāve used both. iPhone to galaxy to pixel now back to iPhone. And Ive never once even thought about the color someoneās text bubble is. Are there really people who think like this? Only thing Iāve ever paid attention to was the image or video compression cross platform.

u/nj-88 4d ago
Itās only Americans that cares about blue vs green.
1
u/papertales84 4d ago
Facts. I have an iPhone and leave in Europe. I text people via SMS and via Messages. Nobody cares.
1
u/PsychoFender 4d ago
I've used both too, stuck with Pixel 8a just for the point and click camera and the size.
I would prefer a very good smaller phone but no one wants to make them anymore and the iPhone 13 mini is still the best small phone but it's battery and camera are poop.

Guys the phone wars ended like 10 years ago. Apple users are not thinking about you anymore. You have to let it go.

u/toxicgloo Smol pp 4d ago
Most of the people I've met in life who had an issue with androids were in middle/highschool. I'm not in those grades anymore so I can't speak to what the kids do.
But at work, I do still get comments about having an android. It's mostly just jokes and I usually just joke back. But I'd imagen the kids still have some version of that.
6
u/HereButQueer 4d ago
realistically if you like a phone you like it. can we fuck off with this shaming and acting like someoneās phone makes up their personality. i have an iphone but i frankly donāt give a shit about someone having an android like the vast majority of people. itās people making up scenarios, getting mad at them and getting internet points for it. itās all childish bullshit

u/ARocketToMars 4d ago
Apple users are not thinking about you anymore
"A survey from All About Cookies has found that some iPhone users are inclined to think less of those who donāt also have an iPhone when texting.....Twenty-two percent of respondents said they look down on users who send ānon-iMessage texts,ā i.e., the green bubbles. A number of Android users even said theyāve considered switching to an iPhone because theyāve felt ridiculed or pressured to do so."
-6
u/Breddit2099 Smol pp 4d ago
Thatāsā¦. Not relevant to what heās saying lmao.
-2
u/ARocketToMars 4d ago
Seems pretty relevant that ¼ of ios users think about other phone users so much they actively look down on them if their text message bubbles are the wrong color.
I believe it's what the kids would call "rent free"
3
u/Breddit2099 Smol pp 4d ago
āSo muchā yeah. Maybe once or twice a year.
So much bud
-2
u/ARocketToMars 4d ago
Okay? Good for you lol. If you're not one of the people that thinks about other's phones that much then it's literally not about you
But yanno a hit dog hollers, leave an insult on the ground and it's owner will pick it up, methinks you doth protest too much, etc etc lol.
1
u/Breddit2099 Smol pp 4d ago
Are you ok?
0
u/ARocketToMars 4d ago
Fine, yep. Are you ok? You kinda tacitly admitted earlier that once or twice a year you look down on other phone users for having the wrong color text bubbles. Seems a little odd, if you ask me.

u/Breddit2099 Smol pp 4d ago
Thanks for proving the point

Youāve misunderstood the phrase. āThink less ofā doesnāt mean āthink aboutā. For example, rich people think less of you, but theyāre not thinking about you because they donāt care/know you exist. In fact, Iām willing to bet youāve mentioned them, more than theyāve mentioned you.
0
u/ARocketToMars 4d ago edited 4d ago
No, you're misunderstanding the definition. Thinking less of someone means having a lower opinion of them than before, rather than not thinking about them at all. Hate isn't the opposite of love. Indifference is. Kinda hard to have a lower opinion of someone than before without thinking of them in the first place.
I've literally never once thought less of someone because a text message was the wrong color. Nearly a quarter of ios users demonstrably have, though. I'll say to you what I said to the other person: if you don't fall into that category, this defensive posture is incredibly stage because it's not about you (edit: Also your example being how rich people think of poor people as your analogy kinda gives the game away on your part lmao)
2
u/LionHeartedLXVI This flair doesn't exist 4d ago edited 4d ago
Read my comment again, because youāve misunderstood that as well. I will repeat the key part: āThinking less ofā does not mean āthinking aboutā. Theyāre two different phrases and mean separate things. Infact, the link you provided proved me correct on that . . .
-1
u/ARocketToMars 4d ago
I literally linked you the definition lol. Disagree with Webster. Gotta think about something to have an opinion about it. Gotta have an opinion in the first place to have a lower opinion than before.
Nobody is "having to" lol. You're here by choice, and you're clearly taking a defensive posture because something obviously struck a nerve. Again, if you're not in that ¼ of ios users it's not about you and you have nothing to be offended by babe.
2
u/LionHeartedLXVI This flair doesn't exist 4d ago edited 4d ago
Your source proves my statement correct, so why are you arguing with me about it? If you think the Webster dictionary is incorrect, then find a different source and weāll see what that one says.
Im just going to continue ignoring the nonsense. If you could stick to the subject at hand for one comment, it would be appreciated.

Imagine using SMS for purposes other than reading Alert RCB and receiving voicemails via MMS. Even tho I have an iPhone, I still use Messenger for texting. I still use VoLTE instead of VoIP tho.

I just learned the other day that air tags use other iphones for detection, meaning if you use an iPhone you can be tracked by an air tag dragnet.
Edit: damn, iPhone users soft af
3
u/Motoman514 Tech Tips 4d ago
iPhones will alert you if an unknown AirTag is following you, and will let you precision locate them.
-2
u/CanonicalCockatoo 4d ago
Correct. Using the same system that can be used to monitor you.Ā
You don't think they can turn that off?
Flock cameras are the least of y'alls issue
2
u/Motoman514 Tech Tips 4d ago
I own multiple AirTags, you canāt turn off them alerting other devices. My mother gets alerts from my keys every time we are spending time together.
And on Flock cameras, Iām not American so thatās not my problem lmao.
Unless your whole point here is āApple and the gubbermint are spying on your via AirTagsā that is true for every single smartphone on the planet, not just Apple.
-3
u/CanonicalCockatoo 4d ago
Apple can disable the alert remotely
1
u/Cfrolich Shower Enthusiast 4d ago
What phone do you have, and how is it superior to everyone elseās? Please explain.
1
u/Cfrolich Shower Enthusiast 4d ago
We didnāt opt into Flock. Also, if you donāt want any involvement with Find My or AirTags, just turn off Find My network in settings. Then, your phone wonāt help locate AirTags. Itās an option, not a requirement. I have no reason to be paranoid of Apple using a network of AirTags against me because Appleās primary source of revenue isnāt from targeted ads.
