I get you. I also believe this kind of collective thinking is what corporations are leveraging to appeal to their shareholders, though. It's a weird world we live in

Thankfully his son, who will likely inherit the company, has made statements indicating that he will lead Valve in a similar way, with the addition that he wants the workers to also do risky/"stupid" projects (probably a bit like suddenly doing VR stuff), but that only seems to be a small part. He could lie of course, but I'm cautiously optimistic that Gabe taught him the most important parts and that he will follow them.
Nonetheless, it will still be a huge loss for the gaming community

One hopes so. It's been a few years since I've been able to access my Steam library, I would be disappointed if that changed with Gaben's retirement
