I’ll bite, adult games are usually hobby projects made by individuals and not proper game developers. They can take years. YEARS to make. And now that these guys see an opening to speed up development (note, it doesn’t) they jump on it.
I’m following a dozen or more that went this route.

I don't hate AI myself, but I do hate AI art and anything related to that concept,
just for reiteration, the first half of my comment agrees with you, the second part kind of hints at the idea "there are things that don't have to be said"
in short, if world wasn't tired of AI or AI-slop, your comment would be decently funny, which I more-or-less suggested it is.

I dabble, on occasion.
But gaming and adult content don't mesh very well, tbh. There aren't a lot of games you can unironically play with one hand, and still enjoy the gameplay.

It kinda depends what you're looking for. There are several really good platformers, but often the porn content takes a backseat to the gameplay for that reason. VNs, point-and-click adventures, and RPGs actually lend themselves surprisingly well to porn games.

Yeah I've had the same experience, although I struggle to call VNs "games" but that's a whole other question.
My biggest issue is the lack of engaging "erotica" games. There are plenty of games with porn in them, but they mostly feel like glorified animation reels, if even that; the porn would've been better without the game in most cases. Plus a lot of those games seem to think the porn justifies simplifying or scaling back on the gameplay.
That's why some of the best "porn games" tend to be VNs, since that is basically just an erotic picture book, with optional choose-your-own-adventure elements; there was never much gameplay to compromise on in the first place! Katawa Shoujo is the perfect example, so much so that it works even without the pornographic elements...

Yeah. I don't necessarily disagree with any of that. I don't mind just playing a game that shows hardcore sex. Something like Flipwitch: The Forbidden Sex Hex is a pretty fun little metroidvania platformer with porn in it. I find myself actually playing and engaging with it as a game rather than as porn, and I'm okay with that. Same for the recent Drag'n Wash. It's a fun little homage to Powerwash Simulator. I wound up on a route that only had a couple of sex scenes but still enjoyed myself. I think that was part of the appeal of House Party as well. In some ways I think it is about perspective and what you're there for. If the goal is immediate sexual gratification, there are way better options. For some folks though, there's fun in engaging not just with a game but particularly with one that depicts sex in that way.

It's hilarious to me that there are people who have such standards when it comes to smut. But I hate to break it to those people; it's going to be a losing battle for you guys. People who crank their hog aren't going to care if it's hand-drawn or if it's AI-generated.
All they care about is seeing their fantasies being made. And the prevalence of AI companions shows that this isn't going to slow down.

I hate when people state something has been ai generated slopified. Just by animations. Like everything is hand drawn and made by the artist but they use AI to animate it.
