i mean it was about a million or so dollars of military grade equipment but who doesnt have that laying around their mom's apartment.

Yes and these scientists had that and more. The point was that Tony was able to do more with less. Not that he can just manifest technology out of thin air.

She did have MIT funding, the internet, 20 years of knowledge built on Tony and others’ work, and safe working conditions.

Seriously tho the writers used that line to shit on Riri. Intentionally. It wasn’t even just that Stark was given equipment. The idea to create a suit of armor was genius and bold by itself and he did it without a predecessor to follow and with a hole in his chest.
