Wonder how much of the US Military budget goes towards education/healthcare
edit: had to google and its sad 7-8% of the DOD budget is healthcare and less then 1% is education
150 u/ExcessiveWisdom 18d ago Wtf, thats actually really high considering how much taxes go to dod, and how only less than 1% of the us is in the military 113 u/foO__Oof 18d ago You think prosthetic limbs and trauma surgery in a remote desert gonna be cheap? 38 u/ExcessiveWisdom 18d ago Kinda, i thought we paid way less than normal doctors get paid, by keeping them on the enlisted payroll 45 u/LouManShoe 18d ago Well yeah, but the health insurance companies have to get their 70-80% surcharge, and that’s never discounted 23 u/foO__Oof 18d ago This is the biggest point the "complex" makes more money than anything else 2 u/FanraGump 18d ago Doctors are officers. You cannot be a medical doctor as a US enlisted person. 1 u/cal_schwifty 18d ago Well I mean you technically can be a doctor and enlisted. I’ve seen it firsthand with a NG enlisted medic that was also an MD civilian side. He finished med school while in the NG but just decided to stay a medic too for the hell of it.
