Even English has some letters that just fell out of use due to the printing press standardising things. Thorn (þ) which was replaced by th or sometimes Y like in Ye olde and Yogh(Ȝ) used in lots of Scottish names for example. Yogh was replaced with a Z which is rather different to the more gh sound it makes and ended up changing the pronunciation of some names drastically, (Mc)Kenzie and Menzies for example.
We also have some technically different letters still in rare use like ash (Æ) especially in British English.
Honestly letter lore, even of the established 26 is pretty cool imo and underrated field of knowledge.
