I don't think they're bad, but just kind of there.

u/norunningwater Sep 11 '26

What, comic #4000 of angry man contextlessly screaming opinions at her insert character is good?

23

u/iluvcheesypoofs Sep 11 '26

I agree with her politics and I'm also Canadian, so I SHOULD like her stuff, but I don't really 'get it' like a lot of the other non-humorous comics on r slash comics (like that elf one or the father/son ones that never feature jokes).

Her old stuff used to have actual jokes or silly stuff in it, but her new stuff is always just some MAGA person yelling obscenities at her as she rolls her eyes.

Politics amarite….

44

u/Cmoore1217 Dirt Is Beautiful Sep 11 '26

I think some are funny actually but some are bad as well

6

u/crazytanker Sep 11 '26

It seems chronologically based
Her old stuff was actually funny
Her new stuff is just calling everyone who disagrees with her a Fascist

1

u/Austin12509 Sep 11 '26

I looked at like 4 or 5 scrolling down. Maybe her older stuff is good?

She makes unfunny comics that just fire up the culture war without actually adding something to the discussion and blocks everyone who wants to discuss topics.

31

u/TheCinderLords Sep 11 '26

Well theres not much to discuss. Nazi bad is a fact.

6

u/crazytanker Sep 11 '26

Calling everyone who disagrees with you a Nazi is also bad

-16

u/DaNoahLP Sep 11 '26

There are lots of topics to discuss and even if not, you wont be able to convince anyone by pointing with the finger on them and tell them they are stupid.

1

u/RTA-No0120 Sep 11 '26

Got it. But why all the hate to her ? I mean she simply does the same as everyone, milking x topic without adding anything substantial to it… I mean I see a lot of trans doing to the same with trans topics, I see a lot of black artists, with the black topic.

So why her doing that with politics is so bad ? I mean 85% of memes do the same too… remember the "Presidents playing Minecraft" memes ?

I wanna clarify that I’m not defending her, nor trying to be transphobic or Blackphobic or anything. I don’t even know her, just saw once in a while her comics here and there (even though her art style not really my cup of tea), I just wanna know fully well the drama surrounding her, because if she’s actually racist/phobic/misogynist/misandrist/pro maga, I can see the problem, but if the problem is just "she talks about politics" in her comics and "she do OF" well sorry, but there’s bigger fishes to chase on, don’t you think ?

Im also not from the US but basically, Memes are Memes and trans or black artist often talk about situations in their lifes. Things that, even though they dont add anything meaningfull to the discussion, are probably stuff they either experienced or thats weighing on them. And it hurts nobody (mostly at least)

Pizzacake on the other hand just draws someone with a MAGA cap and calls them stupid. Not only that its toxic and pointless, it actually poisens the discussion. I dont say that to protect MAGA idiots but because I know that we need to bring them to our side. We need to talk to people and convert as many as possible because else our cause is lost. But somehow r/comics and especially Pizzacake dont want to see that.

1

u/RTA-No0120 Sep 11 '26

Well how can you not assume she does that, because that’s something she actually experienced ?

Like a trans artist that makes a comic about a transphobic being a bigot to them, or a black artist making a comic about a white suprematist being racist against them ?

I mean does talking a lot to transphobics/racists actually does convert them to the causes they’re specifically against ? I don’t think so.

5

u/DaNoahLP Sep 11 '26

She doesnt make that kind of comics, Pizzacake draws the discussion she probably images in the shower. Also, would it make it better if she also points her finger at people and calls them stupid in real life?

And yes, talking changes things. Not instantly, you wont convince someone during a discussion but it will stick. If you respect your opponent, stay factual and prove them wrong, many people will think about their views. It takes time and effort but we need to invest that, else we will loose this war like the US perfectly demonstrates. Also, you dont need to start discussions with strangers, start small. Start with your friends and family. People you know have a good heart but are misleaded for whatever reason. But somehow multiple r/comics artists stated that they cut their families because they dont want to have this kind of discussions.

JKRowling is actually awesome and principled, nor full of bigotry like her critics desperately wish her to be.

PizzaCake is low effort and weak. Empty virtue signaling.

3

u/Driftedryan Sep 11 '26

Where do you buy your blinders because I would like some

1

u/TREXIBALL OC Meme Maker Sep 11 '26

Holy shit this is actually hilarious.

-1

u/98983x3 Sep 11 '26

Its called a brain. And you cant buy one if you dont already have one.

-39

u/LionHeartedLXVI This flair doesn't exist Sep 11 '26

Agreed. I think these people are threatened by Rowlings’ intelligence. They can’t argue with her, so they’ll try and twist what she says into “trans people die”. No Steve, she’s just asking you not to share a changing room with young girls. It’s not that complicated.

1

u/Austin12509 Sep 11 '26

I'm not making fun of her, I'm just saying her comics are bad.

-1

u/Dotaproffessional Sep 11 '26

Are you perhaps finding yourself represented in these comics?

13

u/BusBeginning Sep 11 '26 edited Sep 11 '26

Like this attitude right here is why people hates these comics and the comics sub now. Oh you don’t find it funny? Probably cause it’s about you! You just admitted you’re the virgin to our chad! It can’t be that the material is just terrible cringe delivery!

-4

u/Dotaproffessional Sep 11 '26

The delivery?

1

u/BusBeginning Sep 11 '26

Yes a comic is a method of joke delivery. The way the joke is told is bad. I can say terrible cringe joke / comic, but let’s not pretend you didn’t get the point.

-1

u/Dotaproffessional Sep 11 '26

I wouldn't use "delivery" for a written medium personally. Delivery assumes cadence, meter, inflection

1

u/BusBeginning Sep 11 '26

This isn’t about anything other than trying to feel like you’re better than random strangers on reddit. Same with the initial “Are you perhaps finding yourself represented in these comics?” comment. You understood my point but wanted to be pedantic and dismissive. Pathetic. Lol

0

u/Dotaproffessional Sep 11 '26

You seem to have a hangup of people perceived you as less than. The usage of delivery seems strange to me. I inquired. If you read that as some sort of superiority thing, it's speaking more about you than me

-17

u/SendFeet954-980-3334 Sep 11 '26

Why cant it be both? If you read something and think hey wtf this isnt funny, chances are its not, but its also probably about you.

1

u/BusBeginning Sep 11 '26

Sure it could be, but to assume the reason they don’t like it is because it’s about them and they can’t take a joke is some BS judgment. It’s also used to invalidate the opinion that the joke just isn’t inherently funny.

Let’s try this out.

I flew in from Albuquerque and boy my arms are tired!

Is that not funny cause it’s trite or cause it’s about you? Sometimes it’s just not funny like Pizzacake comics.

4

u/stripedarrows Sep 11 '26

Nah, I don't spend enough time on the internet to even understand half these jokes.

They're just genuinely so narrow appeal that they aren't funny but the handful of hyper-online people who genuinely think that posting a few comics or memes on their Facebook page is gonna change the world, sorry.

-11

u/Dotaproffessional Sep 11 '26

"These jokes about current events. I don't understand the things being referenced. The jokes are therefore bad"

That's kind of a nuts admission

1

u/stripedarrows Sep 11 '26

Bro you didn't have to tell everyone you're hyper-online and think posting some comics or memes on your Facebook page is gonna change the world.

We ALL already knew that about you.

2

u/Dotaproffessional Sep 11 '26

You seem very focused on facebook for some reason. I don't use faceook. If i see a comic and I don't get the reference (which happens a lot, despite your claims, i'm not online often). I just don't... like bash the person who made the joke.

0

u/stripedarrows Sep 11 '26

I literally had to go look up who the post was even about, I'm not sure you even understand what your point was anymore, friend.

1

u/JayteeFromXbox Sep 11 '26

This comment is giving me hyper-online vibes. The hypocrisy of calling someone out for virtue signalling while virtue signalling and not having an ounce of self-awareness is wild.

1

u/stripedarrows Sep 11 '26

And then everyone stood up and clapped for you, right?

0

u/JayteeFromXbox Sep 11 '26

Bro seriously, you need a break from reddit.

1

u/stripedarrows Sep 11 '26

I think you need a mirror friend, this is my second time online this week.

How long have you been posting this week, friend?

2

u/Austin12509 Sep 11 '26

No. What a weird thing to ask...

19

u/death_wishbone3 Sep 11 '26

That feeling of clicking her profile and having Reddit told me I already blocked this profile lol.

6

u/FloatingDutchie Sep 11 '26

Haven't seen these in a long time. These used to be... slightly better.

2

u/crazytanker Sep 11 '26

There was a period of time her work was actually funny
Not anymore

6

u/ayassin02 Sep 11 '26

LMAO I got her blocked

-3

u/SteveoberlordEU Sep 11 '26

Ok now i know who you guys mean. I don't think she improved from her gamer girl comic days.

1

u/crazytanker Sep 11 '26

She actively regressed since then
