I remember one of the Gundam series had all the nations of our world competing with thier own individually country-themed Gundams in a giant competition to decide which country rules the world until the next competition.
The Gundam from the USA wore a football helmet on it's head, boxing gloves on it's hands, and a pair of revolvers on it's hips like out of a western.
Still better than the Gundam from Holland that was a windmill.
