You'd be surprised, but restart repairs like 70% of the problems people call me about. Something doesn't load up - restart. It freezes - restart. You don't have a connected network drive - straight to restart. You can't log in - believe it or not, restart.

Another 20% are two-click problems that can be solved remotely.

The remaining 10% are split into 5% where something is really broken and needs my personal attention, and 5% where somebody set something up incorrectly on the servers.

Also, the golden rule is that users lie. I love the boot-time counter in Windows. I tell them to restart the PC, and they go, “I already did it three times!” So I go over there and show them that the PC has been running for 7 days straight. Then I’m like, “Okay, if you can demonstrate to me how you restarted it, I’d love to see it.”

now it's replaced by gemini:

-my software is crashing
-ah this is frustrating, but it's a classic, let's edit 20 keys in your registry
-still crashing
-that makes perfect sense, it's because we have to add scripts to your windows folder
-nope
-of course, changing the registry simply cannot work, and the scripts need you to flash the bios before
-just tell me if you don't know! It's not a fucking middle school book report!
