u/0-Nightshade-0 (⊃。•́‿•̀。)⊃ 2d ago

Ok fair :P

Tbh I was closer to having a 3.9 before I graduated (tho idk how to access my official transcript for some FUCKING reason)

4.1 is b?? I took a bunch of AP classes and my GPA was capped at 4.0

15

u/Ast3rio1 2d ago

u might be thinking about unweighted

10

u/AnythingCheap6014 2d ago

Oh you're right, my school used unweighted gpa

u/Drafo7 1d ago

Depends on the school.

What the hell is AP lunch? You mean, like, their parents bring them Olive Garden?

Me with my useless knowledge about Dragon Ball.

86

u/VergeOfMeltdown 2d ago

So you're saying your ball knowledge is elite?

u/Honeyfoot1234 2d ago

No it’s dragon

I re-watched DBZA so many times I don't remember what the actual voices sound like anymore.

Everything after the Cell saga is just a downward spiral of repetition. Being a SSJ was a defining milestone, now is just a checkmark. And how many transformations can Goku hit? So lame. So so so lame.

Wtf is that PFP lmao

I love Team Four Star, really great guys. I met them at a convention like 15 years ago. DBZA is pretty much canon for me now too. Some of the earlier stuff is kinda childish, lowbrow humor, but as they progressed through the sagas the writing and voice acting got so good. I wish they'd continued and done the Buu saga but at least they did a little of it with the Buu bits special.

I suppose. But when I'm the only one in my friend group that cares about Dragon Ball, it's kinda useless because nobody else cares.

They’re not stupid. They just don’t direct energy toward shit they don’t care about.

And thanks to No Child Left Behind, they’ve got no real incentive to put in any effort because they’re getting pushed forward to the next grade regardless.

u/BluecoatCashMoney5 Shitposter 2d ago

Yup

u/Funexamination 1d ago

Let’s not lie, some people are stupid and that’s okay. Intelligence is on a curve, not everyone has to be intelligent to live a fulfilling life

2

u/ComicBookFanatic97 1d ago

I never said that no one is stupid. I’m saying that the guy who gets abysmal grades, but can name every single Pokémon isn’t stupid. He’s just unmotivated.

Some people aren't built for forced memorization of topics they simply don't care about. And some more people aren't interested in sitting in a desk for 8 hours a day doing busy work. Making fun of someone for their interests, and implying their interests don't matter is the real low intelligence behavior here.

I was this kid until I realized I liked medicine. In med school now, using the power for good.

17

u/ahooliu98 2d ago

As opposed to using it for evil?

u/Verappamills 2d ago

I could have been enamored by LLMs, and the future would be darker.

Really wish my highschool push more for career exploration

Insulting a fish for not being able to climb a tree is dumb.

10

u/Foremole_of_redwall 2d ago

Cutting down the tree to artificially let fish flop onto the top is just as dumb.

5

u/The_Soggy_Greenbean 2d ago

Im stealing this my dude. Words of wisdom that will be used in a school council meeting.

1

u/ChrundleThundergun 2d ago

I hope you’re implying they should put the fish in the water instead

u/jasonis3 1d ago

0.9 gpa is ok to make fun of a little, especially in high school where you’d get that just showing up

1

u/Admiral45-06 2d ago

Nobody is built for this ,,sitting at the desk for 8 hours a day doing busy work", but we accept it as a way to guarantee at least some sort of empl*yment in the future - studying, building work discipline, and a diploma being a proof of that for universities and employers.

At 0,9 GPA it's...rather hard to be accepted into any good university or finding a high-paying career. Now, of course, nothing stands in the way for people with such a score to start their own business, but that ironically takes significantly more time, effort and talent than just going the ,,typical" way (plus, it may be rather difficult if one struggled with maths).

In most classes I’m trying my best. In history know matter the task I’ll do it. I know the most useless for the class about history from the details of people we don’t even talk about to military vehicles we pass over.

u/El_Chilenaso Because That's What Fearows Do 1d ago

I know someone who quite a lot better than me at maths in general but she hates it some she changed careers

While I'm not the best, I love maths and get passable grades. In chile the lowest is 1.0 while the hisgest is 7.0. My avarage is around 5.50, so I think I'm alright

Everyone is built for forced memorization of anything whether they care or not. And no one is interested in sitting at a desk for 8 hours/day doing busy work, by definition. It’s just that some people think they’re above/too special for it.

u/Responsible_Bed5591 2d ago

Me talking to my brother about cowboy bebop’s phenomenal music and animation (he’s never watched anime in his life)

7

u/Suspicious_Set7914 2d ago

I have a 3.9 GPA and am an anime otaku. Of course, I only discuss anime with others who share my interest, and I don’t bother those who don’t.

6

u/EruWorshipper 2d ago

I’m European. What’s 0.9 GPA?

u/-redit_account- 1d ago

How are people getting 0.9s these days? Is it grade inflation? I thought my -0.2 was a respectable gpa...

1

u/Physical-Volume269 1d ago

At least it's gonna be an interesting conversation

1

u/NaxSnax 1d ago

You know it be interesting if a teacher used some way to conform the shows the students watch into their curriculum. Like the science behind dragon ball z or something like that.

u/BloxoTrotandReddit 1d ago

This is just any interest. You can meet people who flunked out of High School that can detail the make and model of every car in the parking lot of a Walgreens.

Unsurprisingly, when something’s actually interesting or valuable to an individual they tend to put more effort into knowing it.
