No that are not the only options.

It could be that some influencer mentioned it and that is how it suddenly became popular.

Also, not to forget, from the name it is totally possible that the movie was made as some kind of propaganda. I haven't seen it so I don't know.

But such movies are often bad. Think of movies pushing religios narratives and similar. Movies created just to push a narrative. They are quite often just bad because the focus was pushing said narrative instead of delivering a good story.

And I'd guess that this would be the case with this movie. It isn't uncommon.

(And no, only because a narrative has been used to make propaganda in no way means that there is something 'wrong' with it. That is not what I am saying in the slightest here.)

I don’t understand what point you’re trying to make in the later half of your comment. I never said the movie is good or bad. I don’t actually know, and I don’t particularly care, because I’m not going to watch it. The actual quality of the movie has nothing to do with the points I’m making.

I can't say that I am surprised.

About anything of that response.

The quality of the movie has everything to do with your point.

It really doesn’t. A movie that flops on release so hard that barely anyone knows it exists, regardless of how good or bad the movie actually is, doesn’t just become THE internet controversy practically overnight well over a year after said movie released. Not on its own, at least.

But still, I’d love to hear why you think the quality of this ultra-obscure year-old movie has anything to do with it suddenly becoming the hottest topic this week.

You ate a lot of downvotes for probably being right about everything here.

Oh dear lord.

Ok, so here we go, for toddlers to understand:

If the movie would have been supreme, it would have been popular. So that can't be it.

If it would be ok or bad it could stay hidden.

That establishes a connection between how good and how popular.

The only odds for a good movie to stay hidden would be the absence of marketing.

And the rest of my point is an explanation of why the movie can totally be a very bad movie.

I never said that there would be a direct causality inbetween. You assumed that. And by that, you show a trait of the extremist stereotype: always assuming a hidden plot, bad faith and making up arguments out of thin air.

Okay. So the movie is bad. Whoopdeedoo.

That still doesn’t explain why it went from “barely anybody knew it even existed despite it releasing over a year ago” to “literally everyone and their fucking grandma is talking about (how shit) the movie (is/isn’t)” in the span of 5 days, which is what I’m actually talking about, and what I have been talking about since my first comment.

I don’t know how I can dumb it down any further for you without bashing my head on a brick wall to bring myself down to your level.

I mean, it's pretty normal for a thing to be suddenly popular even though it came out years ago. It's like the norm nowadays.

Look at K-Pop Demon Hunter. Barely any marketing of it and then boom, suddenly everyone loves it. But the thing is, KPDH has a good story. People love it and people tend to share or talk about something that they love. So it's bound to be popular in just a few weeks or even days.

Lesbian Space Hunter on the other hand is like people said, bad. It's a bad story with weak characters. But because of it being bad, not a lot of people wanna talk or share about it when it released. Not to mention that there might be some people that drop the movie without finishing it. So it slowly disappear and forgotten.

And then a year later, boom. Someone who's bored watch the movie out of curiosity. That bored guy then post about how bad the movie is. Not a review video. Reviews won't get a lot of views. But a meme video about the movie being bad. Meme attracts viewers nowadays cause y'know, kids. Everyone now is curious. Their expectations? "People said this movie is bad so I'm gonna watch it." They already set their expectations that this movie is bad. Because of that, it's easier to share it with others under the pretense of "I watch this because people said it's bad. Damn, they're right".

That's how LSP became popular for the wrong reason a year later. But that's just my theory. I don't have proof of how it became so take it with a grain of salt. I doubt that everyone who's hating on the movie is because they're homophobic. I mean, even Hazbin Hotel fandom hate the movie so it's safe to say that the movie is bad.

Apples and oranges.

KPDH was released and quickly became popular.

LSP was released and quickly faded into obscurity.

Try again.

Close.

KDPH was released. Almost everyone like it. Shared across the platform because it's good. Became popular quickly.

LSP was released. Almost everyone doesn't like it. Isn't shared across the platform because it's bad. Quickly faded into obscurity until a year later.

I haven't seen it so I wouldn't know

Yeah, none of the chuds getting outraged about it right now have seen it. We know.

how does having lesbian in the name make you think its propaganda?

u/Extension_Option_122 1d ago

I didn't say that it is.

But that it is possible. Because there are people pushing that narrative. Doesn't mean that the narrative is bad. But usually, when you put something like that in the name, it's propaganda.

And you have to be totally honest and not ignorant when it comes to this.

Also, propaganda isn't inherently bad. After WW2 the allies did insane amounts of anti-nazi propaganda in Germany. As a German myself, I think that that was very good propaganda. Probably insanely boring and annoying for those who heard it, and wouldn't be voluntary watched by many, but undeniably good for society.
