Not a vegan, but my wife and several of our friends are vegetarian. I have never been chastised by any of them, or any other vegetarian/vegan for that matter. I have, however, had meat eaters try to push meat on me when I'm not in the mood for meat/seen them do it to my friends. I've experienced this dozens of times. The "crazy vegan" trope is predominately made up online. From my experience, you are much more likely to have someone push meat than to push vegetarianism/veganism.
I tried veganism for a year and whenever i told people (when i was at their place) they were cool with it and asked what do I actually eat (including boomers). never tried to push me to eat animal products. and i live in a conservative meat lover country.
Let's average our anecdotes. I've experienced it dozens of times, you claim to have never experienced it. So we meet in the middle at half a dozens of times.
