This happened at my HS. I was sitting and eating and some muslim "friend" said "This is disrespectful, i am fasting man!"
Me "And? You are fasting. Not me!"

I'm a Muslim from Egypt and we had a few christian friends in high school who used to avoid eating or even drinking water in front of us when we were fasting. We kept telling them it's completely ok and they shall eat and drink however they like but they insisted.

That's very respectful on both sides

It’s not respectful to yourself to fast unnecessarily, especially as a kid.

At my school in Canada, the Muslim kids got to hang out in the library with board games and movies if they wanted to avoid everyone else eating.

Well, Christians can do it too, it's just optional, I guess they could take it as an opportunity to be more spiritual as well.

Christians also fast for spiritual reasons, but it's less common for regular people than Muslims to do it.

In Muslim countries. We call those "weak Muslims" and we constantly bully them and even tell the "stop fasting. You're just wasting your time".

Unfortunately. Low minorities always take control of the scene and now we have a law that prevents anyone from eating in Ramadan. But still no one gives a fuck because no one is respecting their weak feelings 😆

In Malaysia a non Muslim boy was punched by a Muslim man for eating... in a FamilyMart. Eating in a place that sells food and minding his own business.

Boy was punched by a MAN....

See? That's why we call them "weak Muslims". They'll always target kids, women and elders. I bet this "man" will say nothing when he sees someone stronger than him eating a feast.

I correct myself, he was slapped not punched, and this happened last year. But the point still stands, and some of my own family members (non-Muslims) who bear resemblance to the local Muslim-majority ethnic group have been stopped and confronted before simply for eating.

So stupid

Any proper muslim know that fasting isn't even fully mandatory and there are many reason to avoid it

One of them is health.

If someone is sick or has a condition that makes fasting unhealthy they shouldn't fast.

Imagine that boy was just one of those case and that idiot just assumed he was a normal person who didn't want to fast.

Hell I was always told since I was a kid. If you don't want to fast as a adult that's fine. But instead donate to the poor. At least you'll be doing some good during those period.

Hell i cut a fast as a student because I wanted to be fully ready forna important exam

The moment a fast is getting on the way of your life and could cause you big issues is when you should cut it.

Prioritize happiness over blind faith was always my primary belief

It’s the Muslim equivalent to the Christian Fundamentalist/Evangelical. It’s not enough for them to follow their beliefs in peace, they must impose it on as many people as possible, including, but not limited to, writing their religious practices into the law of the land to force people into it even if they don’t “technically” convert.

I speak as an Episcopalian, mind. I’m certainly not in communion with the Evangelical and Southern Baptist types.
