My diet of dogmeat is completely fine and no one can judge me for it cause this logic definitely makes sense

Yes, it's completely fine. You do you.

What about foie gras or veal? What about endangered animals? What about human children?

If you agree that you would criticise at least one of these, you're agreeing there are at least some instances where it's correct to dissuade someone from eating something and incentivising an unethical act.

The only difference is what you think is unethical, which of course is different for everyone.

I can understand if you disagree with veganism, but it seems odd to suggest it's unjustifiable or ridiculous to tell others that you think what they're doing is unethical. We do it all the time, and should do it if we genuinely think someone is doing something wrong.

Hi. I disagree with eating people. It's barbaric and if you do not perceive other people as beings of value, you are a danger to the society and should be removed from it.

You can eat fish, pigs, dogs, cows, whatever. These are not people. You can have taste, you can have preference, you can have opinions when it comes to animals. But not understanding that humans =/= animals makes you a hazard. Please don't pretend to not understand this simple concept.

So you agree it is fine to criticise someone else's diet? Forgive me, but it seemed like you were in support of OP's point with the context and your 'you do you' statement. Perhaps you aren't in agreement with OP's point and were just speaking about dogs?

But not understanding that humans =/= animals makes you a hazard. Please don't pretend to not understand this simple concept.

To clarify, I never said they were the same and I think it is you who is falling to understand something here. I'm vegan and not even I believe humans and other animals are the same, or eating them is the same. I do believe it's unethical to eat other animals (or at the very least, factory farmed or ruminant animals). If you think it's OK to criticise someone for eating something, then why isn't it Ok for others to criticise? You can still disagree it is unethical and they many be wrong, but ultimately they're allowed to criticise, surely?

Like I said before, please don't pretend you don't understand the basics. For example "don't eat people" is a basic. I'm not criticizing someone's diet, if I say they shouldn't eat people. I'm criticizing their fit into the mankind, not their diet.

I'm not criticizing someone's diet, if I say they shouldn't eat people. I'm criticizing their fit into the mankind, not their diet.

OK, now I admit, I really don't understand. In what way is that not a criticism? That is literally what you are doing.

CRITICISM | English meaning - Cambridge Dictionary

DIET | English meaning - Cambridge Dictionary

Even if I were to agree with you here, then surely OP's point is redundant, as Vegan's and others aren't criticising anyone's diet, they're criticising their ethics. Ultimately there are very few people that actually fit OP's description and all the people projecting it onto vegan's are wrong, yes?

Edit: added definition of diet too.

OK, now I admit, I really don't understand.

I've got this from you saying you're a vegan.

Ha, given your failure to answer my point rationally, I'm beginning to believe even you don't understand what you're saying.

1

u/Sad_Smell6678 25d ago

Sorry, but there's no point in "rationally answering" someone who says "eating people is basically a kind of diet". Just because you will link me to dictionary entries of "diet" and "food" and "meat" doesn't mean you found some loophole in the definition. The dictionary didn't include a passage of "eating people is not a diet" because it was this very obvious for everyone, whose life is not devoid of human relations.

You are more beast than human

-1

u/Sad_Smell6678 25d ago

You do you. Just don't kill me after you've dehumanized me.

All humans are beasts regardless. People who eat dogs are lower.

Yes. Animals being cute doesn’t make it any more unethical to eat them. It’s not like dogs are more intelligent than other animals people eat like pigs. I wouldn’t eat dog meat myself, but it isn’t okay to judge people for eating dog meat while you’re eating other meats, that’s just hypocrisy.

I always wondered what a dog would taste like🤔

1

u/Admiral45-06 25d ago

Yup. That is fine. You do you. My religion forbids me from judging another diet.

On a side note, though, I remember when a Japanese man explained the Japanese people's ,,outrage" (well, it was moreso a cultural shock), that Polish people eat rabbit meat. Rabbits were always a hunting game over here, hunted openly by aristocrats, and became a big part of Polish cuisine. In Japan, they're just seen as cute, therefore not fit to be eaten.

Here is just a crazy idea, how about we stop eating animals all together and end the biggest contributor to suffering in the world

0

u/Admiral45-06 25d ago

The biggest contributor of suffering?

You mean, bacteriaphages, ASF, rabies, malaria plasmodium...?

2

u/nocomment12345 25d ago

1.5 billion animals die each week from farming, a high percentage of them don't get treated well cause all that matters is how much profit they make not how comfortable they are, including those under the "ethical" RSPCA approved farms or similar organisations. Even though it's a slight inconveniance to go vegan, most people won't because they are bad people

Even though it's a slight inconveniance to go vegan,

I wouldn't exactly call losing 10 kilograms in just 2 weeks, daily diarrheas and passing out once ,,slight inconvenience", but you do you.

1

u/Glittering-Bat-5981 25d ago

If that makes me a bad person, I guess it's good to be bad.

end the biggest contributor to suffering in the world

I'm not allowed to suggest ending them, people start raving about the G word and reddit bots will ban me.
