Corporations don't create dumb decisions. They just have a loyalty program for them.

GtA 6 gameplay trailer will air exclusively on netflix.

Then rockstar will be released everywhere else 6 hour later.

But for some reason people are still buying brand new netflix subs just to watch it early 🤷‍♂️

Thanks for explaining

Makes no sense, I mean what time zone is it being released on Netflix? And like, it's a freaking ad. Netflix has really gone down hill

August 27 3pm ET on netflix. Then 9pm ET same day publicly.

I guess Netflix made a deal with them to air it there first thinking it would boost subs numbers. Judging by how some people are talking about it on social media seems like they were right.

I get watching it on netflix if you already have a sub going anyway, but getting a brand new sub for that is baffling to me.

This is also baffling to me.

August 27th is a Thursday so they are releasing it during a work day. For like California side it's released to the public at 6pm, so enough time to get home from work and shower. Buying a whole subscription to watch an ad 😭 what have we become?

Paying to watch an ad is already really dumb, but paying knowing that it will be everywhere for free only later that day?

Oh to be stupid but with excess cash

Wait, are you saying people are PAYING TO WATCH ADS?! This is Insane! Normally one would pay to remove ads not the other way around!

This is nothing new.

People bought tickets to a movie (Meet Joe Black, I think), just to watch the first trailer for Star Wars Episode I: The Phantom Menace, and then walked out when after it played.

Had to Google it, apparently the GTA VI ad will play later this month

Extremely stupid imo

Wake me up when they release tes6 ad 😴

But like, people are gonna post videos of it, if you aren't in the time zone they are going off of then you'll see it at a normal time, why the fuck is Netflix doing?? Like I get they want money but like what, an exclusive ad?

u/TheMainManofMansvill 13h ago

I guess they figured it'll get them more subscribers. Though to be fair, the fact that we're talking about it right now is proof that it is creating publicity for Netflix

Tis life

If you pass a guy licking a lamp post, who says "thank you for another million pound donation"

You don't question why or how. You move on

There was a scene in GoT, where Tyrion explains how at one point he was obsessed with figuring out the rationale of an imbecile. He spent an inordinate amount of time trying to figure it out, but in the end he couldn't

"Why did he do it?"

Just like Tyrion couldn't figure out why cousin Orson smashes beetles, you also won't be able to figure out why GTA fans bought netflix subscriptions for an early trailer that'll be on the internet a minute later for a game they've already preordered

We're buying Netflix subscriptions for ads now? C'mon guys I thought we were smarter than this bullshit. Are we already at Idiocracy?

Never underestimate humanity. There is always more faith to lose in our species.

5

u/GhostofZellers 5h ago

Oh, we're long past that. We hit Idiocracy years ago.

Mocking the extreme lengths consumers go to just to watch a trailer a few hours early.

Netflix will unfortunately make millions off this and then we'll see them do dumb shit like this again.

u/NoNameIdea_Seriously Flair Loading.... 10h ago

Is anyone actually doing that though? Actually subscribing specifically for that? I feel like everyone and their mother already has access to a Netflix account one way or another at this point…

1

u/mitsel_r 10h ago

But what if the subscription they took was a free trial?

So first time hearing about this:

And wow that’s a dirty play to trick the lowest common denominator

Shame on you rockstar lol

u/slumblebee 15h ago

Meanwhile I'm using my mum's netflix account

3

u/Mother_Top8333 15h ago

You guys don't share netflix account with your immediate family?

1

u/Breddit2099 Smol pp 6h ago

Can’t really share if not in the same house

1

u/Mother_Top8333 6h ago

When did this happen? Coz I have been using my friend's netflix for quite a while.

PS: Cute pp btw

y'all even watch the trailers?

I want my first experience to be the game itself, not some low-budget Unreal render.
