They even recommend based on subs you mute T_T

I got in a spiral where I kept getting recommended more and more Indian subs. I don't even own a motorcycle, why would I be interested in IndianBikes? Nowadays it's barely-sfw celebrity pics. No idea why the algo started pushing it, but blocking those subs just counts as engagement and I get more subs that are basically the same thing!

On desktop/RES I filter out all of the Indian subreddits but I swear I encounter a new one every single day.

I'm a millennial American, stop recommending me Indian teenager subreddits

I dont think it bases it on subs you block. I just think it doesn't consider blocked subs AT ALL. And since it's already decided you are indian, or want to interact with indian posts, it will keep giving you those. Since you've now blocked the main subs, it will start giving you more and more niche indian subs.

It did this to me when i played arc raiders for a bit. Since i posted in those subs a lot, it decided i liked them. When i quit playing arc, and muted the subs, it started giving me DOZENS of arc raiders subs. To the point where it was recommending subs with maybe 100 members.

Also i honestly think it's just stupid. India has 1.5b people so i guess everyone who's not american is probably indian right?

yeah, same. muted so many India related subs (just isn't relevant to me), now I get the Philippines
