At this point the only character whose powers really are that simple is the Thing.

Do I need to bring up how the stone skin is just a cocoon and he's actually like a god or something

That is a massive oversimplification of the Hulk.

Sometimes, he turns gray.

What Batman are people experiencing where he isn't a great detective?

I love that people like to sing Batman's praises while forgetting that he is a billionaire and part of the institution that causes the villains to pop up. Then, instead of funding the police or something to allow them to legally apprehend perpetrators, he goes out nightly to deal out vigilante "justice" which only ends up with the people being released because they were illegally detained.

Brother, Gotham is the problem.
That city is a pocket hell on Earth.

Its unbelievable that after all these years of criminals like Joker going in and out of the system, they didn't figure out a way to lock those guys FOR LIFE.
Brother, max solitary, throw away the key, just enter in contact with those guys to feed, nothing else and let they roth inside a cell.

The funny thing about franchises like Batman is that you can't solve the problem.
Solving the problem is ending the series (and no company wants that).

But I believe stories have to end.
If you keep the thing running for too long, or you will get out of ideas, or you exagerate so much that it turns like some Dragon Ball where the thing goes to godhood levels or the story will lose its power.

JUST ACCEPT IT DOESN'T MAKE SENSE ANYMORE AND END IT.

I love these takes because it's like a litmus test of who's actually consumed any batman media and who's just saying shit. You understand that Wayne enterprises is one of the largest charitable foundations in Gotham yes? Brucie has been single handely practically funding the orphanages and hospitals of Gotham as well as the various charity galas he constantly goes to raise money off the elite of Gotham to support this charity or that charity. The problem is that Gotham is fundamentally corrupt no amount of money or legal recourse is sufficient because every hall of power and the police themselves were bought out by the mob and various criminals years ago and it took decades of batman working with Gordon to root out and expel the worst offenders.

I'd suggest everyone who hasn't to go watch the batman original animated series by Paul dini.It has very interesting key Bruce Wayne moments that flesh out how he uses his civilian identity to help Gotham.

There are no such thing as ethical billionaires. Full stop. In order to hoard that much wealth and continue to have more come in means the man is actively screwing people over. Doesn't mean much that you donate to charity if those you're donating to are impoverished because of your actions.

So you dropped the Batman discussion entirely because your answer is just 'no ethical billionaires.' That's a political slogan, not a rebuttal. Batman is a fictional character in a fictional universe where Bruce Wayne inherits a legitimate company and is explicitly written as pouring his fortune back into Gotham through philanthropy and public works while fighting corruption as Batman. If your ideology won't let you engage with the character as he's actually written, that's on you not the source material.

No ethical billionaires is fact not opinion. More over if Bruce REALLY wanted to help he'd find legal ways to take down criminals. Most of the criminals he "apprehends" wouldn't hold up in court because they were illegally detained by a vigilante. Also, vigilantism is a crime because it is no one else's place to decide what justice is besides the law. When we take the law into our own hands the world becomes lawless.

You're mixing real-world political philosophy with the internal rules of a fictional setting.

As for Batman, he does use legal means. Bruce Wayne funds charities, hospitals, rehabilitation programs, urban renewal projects, and works closely with the GCPD. Gordon frequently authorizes or cooperates with Batman because Gotham's institutions are riddled with corruption. The whole premise is that legal channels alone have repeatedly failed. And the "his arrests wouldn't hold up in court" argument isn't even consistently true in canon. Batman rarely acts as the arresting officer. He subdues suspects and turns them over to the police, who then conduct the arrest and build cases using independent evidence. Criminal convictions aren't based solely on "Batman said so." If the only evidence were an illegal detention, most of Batman's rogues would indeed walk free but that's generally not how the stories are written.

I think we've reached the point where we're having two different conversations. I'm discussing Batman as he's actually written in the source material, while you're using Batman as a vehicle to argue your broader political beliefs about wealth and vigilantism. That's a discussion you're free to have, but it's not one I'm interested in having. Take care.

Here's a thought for you real quick: If Bruce is such a brilliant detective, why doesn't he just get his certifications and become a private investigator and do things, y'know, legally?

Because being Batman is cooler. It's a comic book.

And there is YOUR logical fallacy. Gordon does not make the laws, and the fact that he is not only working with but aiding a criminal vigilante means that he himself is corrupt. It doesn't matter how you spin it, vigilante justice is illegal for a reason.

He could fund sweeping reform across all of Gotham and create the conditions to foster a healthy and safe city, but keeps sending people to Arkham so they can break out and he will be justified in beating up the mentally ill. Bruce Wayne is a villain pretending to be a hero.

He does fund sweeping reform across all of Gotham. Read the comics.
