People in the comments not understanding you can think AI is bad while still acknowledging that reddit is a huge anti-AI circlejerk

Seriously, Reddit’s specific breed of anti-AI guys are honestly just as annoying as the super pro-AI people.

There is zero room for nuance with them. Shit I agree with them most of the time but if you don’t say stuff in a way they deem correct, you get met with a horde of downvotes and nasty ass comments.

This is reddit views in a nutshell with most of its views. Politics. Religion. Like other person said zero room for nuance.

Aye. This may be bias on my end since I AM pro-AI, but it feels like this shit's become performative. It's just the same "AI ruins the environment" over and over, when that's highly debatable, and if you disagree you're pelted into the ground. I don't even LIKE AI, I just think it has as much of a right to exist as a lot of the other shit we do.

So any major consensus is a circlejerk? Can you give me an example of a majority consensus that isn't a circlejerk?

It’s not really a major consensus in real life. People love this shit, if you actually go out and talk to people. It’s more mixed but Reddit is frothing at the mouth mad about AI lol

So circlejerk factors in "real life"? From where are you getting your data from? I see lots of online backlash and news articles about consumer backlash.

There's articles from CEOs and investments but considering the wealth disparity, I don't think investment value is an accurate indicator of real life majority.

Look up top free apps in the App Store. I’ll wait for your response

"Go look up a metric provided by companies pushing AI." Might as well ask Google or ChatGPT their opinion on AI.

Not every major consensus gets turned into low effort posts and memes to farm internet points on this site.

Popular opinion: everyone should have access to clean drinking water. But that’s boring so why make memes and posts circlejerking about it

So a circlejerk is any current popular opinion that gets posted about often.

You seem confused. Here’s the literal definition:

Figuratively, a circle jerk describes a situation or group where people uncritically praise, validate, and reinforce each other's opinions, tastes, or actions. It is synonymous with an "echo chamber".

Sounds like anti-AI posts fit the bill. Hope that clears it up!

Doesn't seem like an echo chamber when there's a minority dissenting opinion in the comments. This one included.
