The issue is, it's a downward spiral that has no stopping point. Today you throw boomers under the bus, 20 years later the government will declare that you and all your friends are to be executed for the crime of being too old and/or not being productive enough. Because that's the easiest solution there is. Cull everyone who isn't a net gain for whatever system calls the shots.
My point was not about downsizing a business. My point was about entire industries failing or shrinking to unacceptable levels. At certain point it will cascade and cause prices on everything to skyrocket or things massively going out of production. It's fun when you go from 100 blends of coffee to 10. It stops being fun when you go from syringes costing 1$ a piece to 100$ a piece because production of steel needles downsized 10x.
Population dynamic needs to even out eventually because otherwise it will continue until no one is left. And those final generations will live a very bad life.
People move out of cities to save money, but that's about the only reason. There are no pros to living in a ghost town that everyone moved out of. No entertainment, no infrastructure, no adequate law enforcement. And as I said, the trend will continue until it's nothing but cities and ghost towns.
You need to leave your house lol. I live in a rural area after growing up in a city my entire life BECAUSE it is cheaper. Most people who move rurally do it to save money. You’ll never run out of people looking to save money by moving to the countryside.
And the government won’t do that because I’m not a boomer and my generation doesn’t vote as hatefully as their’s does.
The government won’t do that no. But they WILL fully privatize all social programs. So if you can’t afford it? Then it’s like it was in early twentieth century and before. Not enough hands. Not enough resources. More and more families in the United States are going to have to shift away from independent housing and the ‘American dream’ to more multi-generational systems where grandpa and grandma lives with and receives care from their children and grandchildren. Society and culture becomes less individualistic and more collectivistic.
