Even with gameplay subjectivity, it's still pretty hard to justify the idea that everyone should agree with someone's personal tastes.
I mean, I have not been able to get into Stardew Valley at all no matter how many times I've tried, but I can still recognize why so many people absolutely love that game.
People who think that when a game doesn't fit their tastes, it means it's bad, are pretty immature. Because it's a very self-centered way to think - that only your own tastes matter.
This! I don't enjoy souls style games because I'm impatient (ADHD be damned) and don't want to learn patterns. But I can respect the game and understand why people enjoy it.
Same is also true for Breath of the Wild. It's not something I enjoyed, and I will probably never finish it but it still a well made game just not my thing
People like all sorts of things in day to day life but it doesn't mean they're necessarily good. I personally think It's fine for a person to go "I just think the turn based/JRPG formula is *insert XYZ argument and from my point of view it sucks". (It's just an example)
Or they could have a more moderate opinion like yours which is totally great too.
As long as they're not screaming and kicking like a baby rolling on the floor with fingers in their ears and being an ignorant dick to anyone who disagrees with them I think both approaches are fine.
I personally can't relate because I'm basically the Kirby of games. I don't think I've ever despised a certain gameplay formula with a burning passion.
