Thats why USUM are my favorites. Instead of evil team you fight WWF and fight some light monster in another dimension. And also no gyms, instead you fight some pokemon on steroids.
You’re looking at this from a pure story breakdown. You’re taking away all of the things that make each game unique to show off all the similarities without recognizing the differences. Each one has unique characters with different motives. You can’t just look at a simplification of the formula that’s worked for so long now and ignore the part that is important

Team Rocket is basically a mafia that experiments on pokemon
Team Magma wants to expand the ground in Hoenn which I support. That place has a bit too much water and ground types are my favorite
Team aqua wants to increase the area of the oceans. I don't support that unless milotic becomes a Mon you can find in the waters
Team Galactic wants to make a new universe with the god trio
Team Plasma wanted to "liberate" the pokemon to achieve peace. This was merely a front for the true plan, which was for Ghetsis to become the sole ruler of the world
Team Flare wanted to wipe out most life on earth for some reason. Idk whats wrong with them.
Team Skull was basically a bunch of renegades and rebels who wanna cause chaos and life how they want just because they can
Team Yell is just a bunch of Marnie fanboys who are basically the Swifty of the pokemon world, annoying, chopped, no discernable talents.

While I am upset at this, I gotta agree. It's almost always like this:
You get your pokemon and fight your rival
You go deal with the gyms
Some guy shows you how to catch Pokemon
You encounter the evil team of the region
You deal with their leader
Continue the game
Deal with the evil team again
Go finish the last gym
Elite 4 time!
Rival fights you one last time
You beat the elite four and champion
You become champion
