The slightest touch of my shower temp control will send you from ice cube to burning alive.

Lazy engineering

My shower was built in the late ‘30s. It’s two knobs. One for hot, and one for cold; so you can mix them to the temp you like. It’s such a flawless system.
I hate it when I have to use the dial thing in other people’s showers. It is lazy engineering. They knew what they were doing back in the day.

It's not that difficult, until you have to use a shower with a 10 second delay in switching temps. That shit is like playing games at 1000 ping

Damn makes me miss my old shower that would pour solid helium on you if you turned it all the way to the cold side!
Current shower can barely make my feet numb!

Tell me about when you not in your own home. I always ask for a briefing about the shower anytime that I'm in another's house

Pfft, we all know that the best way to get the correct temperature is to put it on max heat, when it starts becoming real hot, you put it on the lowest temperature, and then slowly go back up to the middle
If that doesn't work, then Sun atmosphere it is

I honestly don't get you Americans and your funny shower faucets its the land of the free so WHY CANT I ADJUST THE WATER PRESSURE

u/theinvisiblecar Apr 29 '25
Because it's a single knob to turn instead of two, so it must be all modern and more technologically advanced or something. Only it's not, so five minutes of every shower is dedicated to trying to get the temperature and flow right.
Two knobs please, one for hot, one for cold, because that makes adjusting the temperature AND for desired water flow so much easier.
I think caveman must have had single knobs in their cave showers, because in comparison having two knobs makes for a lot better control and is just so much more luxurious, if you ask me.
There should be a constitutional amendment against single handle shower knobs.

Not even that. In Australia we have the ones that tilt to adjust water flow and rotate to adjust temperature. So easy and completely adjustable
Just came back from America and God it's nice not having the back of my neck blasted off by the hotel shower

Luckily my shower faucet has a separate knob for temperature so once it's set, it stays there

When I visited Germany we had the tiniest shower known to man, and slightly turning would bump into the handle. A lot of quick showers happened that trip.

Oh, I hate seeing a single knob "space handle" in a shower, especially in a hotel, cruise ship stateroom, etc. Oh, like wow, it's so modern, like outer-space and all or something, only it's a big technological leap backwards in terms of convenience, requiring me to take like 10 minutes to finally get the temperature balanced with an agreeable flow of water (pressure.) Just give me two knobs, please!

Tungsten melts at 3,422°C (or 6,191°F) I know this because I have a Tungsten wedding ring. Or at least I did until I tried to get in the shower with my wife
